Hacker B50 8s

Hi all, I have been offered a B50 8S Hacker for $100. I know the motor is good with no overheating. How well would this motor run in an all aluminium E-MAXX?? And what controller would be good??

Nay, screw it and get yourself a 8XL BK wanderer and you will see some real brushless action.

I think the motor is probably a little small to run in an aluminum emaxx. The 8xl would do nicely.

People used to run smaller motors like that in E-Maxxes, but those days are way over. Pick up a larger Feigao motor for $100, and you will not regret it. The 8s is just not suited to a monster truck.

I used to run an 8s in my stock maxx years ago. I'll tell ya this DON'T DO IT. They run super hot in an MT.

i run an 8L in my TXT-1 with the stock transmission on 12cells. it is fast and has lots of torque - easily push the e-maxx around.

oops! I already got the motor. So tell me how to get the best out of this motor. Can I run 14 cells? Which ESC? Gear raitio? etc... I had to get it because I paid only $90 for it.

You could have gotten an XL sized motor for only $10 more..

The 8s can't handle 14 cells, but it should be able to handle 3s lipoly, or ~9 cells. If your E-Maxx is all aluminum though, you are going to have to gear WAY low.

If you would be able to, you could sell the 8s on Ebay, and get a more suitable motor.

I use to run the old modeltech system whitch was the first brushless pretty much to hit the states, it was hacker 8s and shulze 60 amp controller, not a good combo. if you have to use the motor keep your truck as light as you can and order the 9920 warrior controller, run only 10 cells in series and gear 12/72

I too had one of the modeltech systems. I had the 12s and ran it on 12 cells. I had a very light E-Maxx and the controller thermalled after 5 minutes and once I put a fan on the controller, The runtime was still only 10 minutes or so on matched GP3300's. I would estimate that the motor reached temperatures of 160 or higher and I had to cool down between runs. (not very fun IMO)

Like Metal Man, I think that you should try to sell that motor on ebay and then get a more suitable motor (8XL).

Ok, Does anyone need a Hacker B50 8s? I am not having a good day first I get the wrong motor and now I am having trouble with assembling my hybrids :M: . Maybe someone on a plane forum needs a 8s??:M: Thanks for the help. I will do better i promise lol;)

The 8s is a great 1/10 motor, Mike. It simply isn't ideal for the e-maxx.
