Can I remove this?

I just received my lipoly packs today, and realized that there is 2 large black squares at the end of the packs. Before i disassemble them and realize i need what ever is there. I need to know if it is just a foam spacer, of if something is accually there. I posted a picture of the areas im talking about. I want to make the packs shorter if possible and removing these would diffinately work.

i think those foam things are for protection, so i wouldnt remove them. I could be wrong though?

is it just foam protecting the wires? someone please let me know

foam protecting the cells, i think i read that lipo cells are softer than normal cells?

Its kinda like the foam in a helmet. Would you take the foam out of a helmet?

I don't know about this. It may be harmful if you do. I take it if you don't the batts won't fit your truck. Could you email the maker of the batts to see what they say? I don't want to give the wrong advice. It may depend on what you are mounting them with as well. A strap across the end may be hard on it. A bar across them will hold them in with out mashing the ends. Just a thought.

One side has a circuit board, I would not remove that side, However if the otherside would help I would go for it (The bottom side). That said, why you think they are thick, The foam pad is really quite thin, Thus I doubt it will meke the diff between no fit and fit.

You would be better off getting a ray gun that enlarges thinks and use it on the whole truck. LOL

I agree with highflier. The circuit board piece is necessary since a hit to that could actually damage the pack. The circuit board holds onto the tabs of each cell, and if pushed, can break the fragile tabs, rendering the pack useless.
