Savage XL and FLUX Parts? - 03.25.2009, 10:20 AM

Anyone ever try using the Savage Flux motor and motor mounts on the Savage XL? Will the stock Flux motor mounts drop into the XL motor mount plate and allow the use of the Flux motor? just curious cuz I have a friend with an XL that wants to converto to brushless and is looking for a simple converion. Most of whats out there (besides the FLM kit that is out of his price range) looks pretty hokey and I just thought that possibly the Flux motor mount would work for the XL.

Also, Anyone try mounting the Flux Battery Boxes on the sides of an XL yet. Not sure exactly how its mounted, but it seems like it wouldnt be that hard to do. Any ifo you guys have would be apreciated.

The Flux uses a motor plate that actually sticks out past the TVP's. So, it won't work on the XL or X TVP chassis. I think you could mount the battery boxes just by drilling some new screw holes in the XL TVP's.
I have a feeling that the aftermarket will soon step up to the plate with more chassis and box options. FLM already has a new set of Flux TVP's out.

Do the FLM TVP's extend the chassis at all? THey didnt give much data on the web site.

On edit - found anther page on thier site, and it looks as though they do nothing but add bling.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

Yea. Wheelbase of my FLM Savage is only about 1/2 shorter than the XL.

If they extended the chassis I'd buy the FLM ones, but without extending it any, it's just senseless bling IMO

The FLM's are not senseless bing. I feel offended and I have nothing to do with FLM. The stock chassis plates ben with a solid impact. The stock plastic parts are stonger then the chassis in my opinion and the plates bend before the plastic breaks. The FLM plates cause the plastic to break first which is not very often and this is what I prefer. Saying that I probably wouldn't get the standard length chassis until I did bend the stockers.

From what I have heard though FLM will have an extended version very soon.

Savage: FLM Conversion, 6s, MMM, CC 1520.
Mini-T Pro: Micro Pro 6800kv, Lipo, HS-81mg, Dirt Hawgs
M18MT: Quark 33A, Y22S 6000kv, FP 2s Lipo
LRP S8-BX: RC-M Conversion, Tekin RX8 B1600KV, 6S.

Couldn't you swap the XL engine plate with a standard savage one? that'd give you the basic mount for the motor

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
