Savage Flux with 8S and Neu 1521

Just starting a new 8S Flux project. The Neu 1521 motor drops right in with no major problems. I broke down and bought an MGM 25035 ESC for the build. I haven't had the best of luck with MGM's, but it's the only 8S high amp car ESC out now. (I know about the HV 110. Not enough starting power for wheelies and backflips.)
Check out the new Integy tie rod eliminator rear hub. Integy claimed in an e-mail to me that these are 6061-T6. Usually Integy stuff is crap and they lie. So I took it in to the metallurgy dept. where I work and they confirmed it! It is 6061-T6, we'll see if it holds up.

i hope you have some CEN diffs in that truck. i don't think the stockers will hold up too long. that thing is going to be way too powerful for that shorter chassis. i wonder if you will be able to do standing double backflips.

i wonder if the "bulletproof" flux tranny could handle that much power.

Looks good, nice to see that the 1521 fits in there with the stock flux mount.

I am planning to run a 1521 2y on 10s lipo in my savvy. A buddy is working on a baja 5t length chassis for me, so I doubt it will be anywhere near as crazy as your setup will be. That is alot of power in a truck that size, do you plan to gear for speed?

What wind is that 1521? And any chance of a link to those integy HD rear hubs?

Linc, I love to bash with larger type tires like Big Joes. So gearing will be on the lower side, I'll have to experiment. The wind is 1Y (1577 kv). Like to keep the RPM's high for stunts. Most likely I'll end up going back to a 1515 but it's fun to try different things.

Thanks for the link. I have the std integy hubs on the x right now, and will see how they do... I may have to pick up a set of those hubs, they do look stronger...

Ran a few packs through it this weekend. I used two Neu 4S 4100 30C packs. A tight fit in the boxes, but they made it. The torque was incredible. What was really surprising was how cool everything stayed. After a full pack the MGM was warm, not hot, to the touch. The MGM also exhibited none of its previous quirks with braking or reverse. It ran smooth and solid. It all just proves to me that higher voltage setups are the way to go.

I have a MGM 9032 I've been holding onto wanting to do a 8s or 10S setup. I have a bunch of 4S batts, so I snagged up a NIB Tekno 1515 3D that was going quite cheap.

What SW ver is your MGM? I sent mine in last year for the 3.21 upgrade, but haven't used it since. Alot of issues were supposed to be corrected but haven't tested it yet.

I loved my HV setup in my Revo I shelved when I got the Savage. Tons of power and TQ and would not even get warm. Def the way to go. Got any ET data on that setup? Should be powerful.

The MGM is version 6.28! Quite a few revisions. No test data, but from the battery and connector temps, I can tell that it is not drawing a huge amount of current. Certainly less than my 6S MMM setup. Please give the 9032 a try. The 250 is definitely overkill and I think your 9032 would kick butt!

Any progress to this? I was thinking of a 1521 too as I like running the 40 series on beadlocks. It's just too much stress on the 2200kn 1515 though. Any vids?

Are Savvy hubs/tie rods known for breaking? If not, what is the intended benefit of this particular integy item? Looks like adjustment is via changing the hole location.....

This setup is running well. Temps stay cool and the power is manageable, but barely! Overall, I am going back to the 1515 motor, the 1521 is just too powerful for the drivetrain. Too much wear and too many broken parts. Liqrsicc, go with a lower kv 1515 on 8S and it will run those 40 series fine.

The Integy hubs get rid of the tie rod weight and make diff and shock maintenance easier. Also opens up room if you want to run LST shocks. It's just nice to get them out of the way since they aren't really needed.

I may just rethink the idea then. I was planning on the 1521 1900kv running 6s. I just dont want all the extra stress on the drivetrain.
