My newest project -
04.10.2009, 02:22 PM
So I went trashpicking today, and came across what will be my newest project. Who needs a baja when you have one of these?
the conversion to electric should be fairly easy to do. The hardest part will be adapting the steering. Any thoughts?

I dont think i will be going that fast... my plan so far is to keep the stock motors, and wire one jeep to my MM running 4s And the other to a victor 883, lvc and 4s lipo. if that isnt good enough, i will rubber coat the wheels, and put direct driven CIM motors in 'em

Dibs on the Bug Mike!
Your going to need to coat the tires in something. Im thinking if there is any way to make a solid axle for it, it would be the ultimate drift machine

Well, i went over ben's and we decided the best way to do the steering is with a 1/4 scale servo. we didnt have one, so we decided on this setup for the jeep.
1x MMM, 4s, connected to stock motor.
Now take that and double it for the other side as well! we set it up for a tank-drive style steering, locked the rack and pinion steering in the front and there ya have it! it is pretty fast for the tires being plastic and the ground being wet. we plan to improve on that soon. The greatest part is that the jeep just magically pivots around the rear wheels! will post pics and vids as soon as they upload

Hahahahaha! Nice burnouts man! You should try and build some real tracks for it. That would be sweet.

Were serious, we need to devise some sort of steering, we will probably run the drive motors off 1 MMM and then maybe a motor turning the steering wheel with another.
If we had some traction this thing would fly!
