I've got an OFNA GTP that I bash regularly with the 2650 on 4s. Recently out of curiosity I ran it on 6s (I know, I know that a no-no) and the speed was way more than I expected. My question is, if I went with the 1515 2700kv motor on 6s, could my MMM handle it?

The mmm is rated to 6s so it should handle it.

I'm pretty good at math. Let me see.... 2700 x ~22.2 = Grenade. Yup, looks right.

Seriously, anything much more than the nominal voltage on the LiPos could put you over the rated RPM limit (60K) for the Neus. You might say that the batteries will drop voltage under load while at speed, but don't forget burnouts! If you told them you were running 6s I don't think they would warranty it.

If you want fast. Its better just to run a 2200 kv on 6s and the castle 2200 motor is actually advertised to be able to do so. Gear up a little and it will be about the same as your 2650 on 6s. The only difference between the two motors is the change in length, which cause the kv to be lower.

Now this is the information I was looking for. I knew that the 2700kv rating made it possible, but I wasnt sure if it would be to close for comfort being right on the heels of the 60,000 rpm limit.

When I called Neu and asked them about running the 2700kv motor on 6s, they said no problem. I'm going to run a 1515 1.5d in a LST2 on 6s for the summer to see if all the rumors are true. I believe the Neu will take it no problem. This will be a bashing truck, so that might make a difference too. MMM with zippy's flightmax 6s 5000 30 c packs. I have heard its a no-no too, but I have to see it to believe it. The lst2 have so much gear reduction that you have to do something to get it up to normal speed (50 mph).

1.5d in an lst2 is a retaded idea rofl no way it can take it on 6s..Im doing the same to my emaxx (close to same weight) I can fit 62/25 with 1/8th gears on my 1.5d on 6s and thats about 55mph maxed LOL... I dont like that motor, I hope it blows up. Ive seen Stumblin roll his revo 70mph on a 1.5d on 6s but it didnt live alot longer

Dont be such a wimp jayjay, if you cant run with the big dogs stay on the porch.
With a 1.5d on 6s I still dont think it will do 70mph. BTW a LST2 is nothing like a e-maxx.
Pretty sure the 1.5d wont blow up......

I am sure the motor can take it but IMO anything beyond a 1515/1y w/ 5s lipo is out of control

I ran a 1515 1.5d in a revo on 4s. Geared for 42mph it would pull a set of trakpower hc lipos a bit hard. As long as you have good lipos the motor will be fine. I expect you will easily pull 120amps, so hopefully the MMM can keep up. A 1515 1y may be a better choice for 6s... I plan to run the 1515 2d that I have coming on 5s... No real need to spin it much faster for the stretched savage...

Heres what I got...OFNA GTP onroad sedan, 8 1/2 lbs with 6s ready to run.I'm looking for at the least 70 mph without hurting my Trakpower hard pack 4900 and/or 5400 cells. Which would you advise 2700 or 2200?

I have better luck with a 1512 1400kv then a 1515 2700kv motor in the gtp. My gtp pulls 2000w peak, but its more controlable with the smaller motor.

either will work for what you want, and everyyone will have their own opinion what to use. for me, if I can physically fit the gearing for the desired speed with a lower kv motor, then I use the lower kv motor. use the speed calculator and figujre what gearing you need to run for each to get your 70mph and then take a look at what you have, what you need to get what you want, and what will fit. most of all, have fun

2700 on 6s in a GTP? Hmm, better stock up on tires! Total rpms will be just shy of 60k full-out. From GriffinRU's program, Neu motors start losing efficiency pretty fast above ~55k, but I imagine this is for speed runs?

I ran a 1515/2.5d (kv=1650) on 10s in my GTP. It was plain stupid power. I couldn't even get enough control to get it to switch into second gear. Ran ok though. It's not like you'll be running WOT for 10 minutes so heat shouldn't be an issue. I can see bearings wearing out faster though. And if that rotor decides to let go, all I can suggest is to run for cover!!
