Where's the Market Place forum? - 04.13.2009, 08:07 PM

This may seem odd, but I can't seem to find a WTB/WTS/Market Place forum here. Can anybody help me out?

There is no formal marketplace here. But, you can place an "ad" in the "General Discussion" subforum. Prices are not allowed and all transactions are to be handled via PM. If a deal goes sour, that's solely between the parties involved. The thread title needs to say "For Sale", "For Trade", etc (or "FS", "FT", etc abbreviations).

Once an ad is placed, the thread is closed by a mod.

It's understandable really. Most other "marketplaces" are either a company that only allows their products, or some dude's site. Mike (owner) provides this forum for mainly support purposes and allows FS items as a nice gesture... an added benefit. He doesn't take kindly to other companies selling their stuff on here, or individuals just registering to sell their stuff. It costs quite a bit for this site with no real profit. Makes sense when you take all this into consideration.

And; thanks!

Now that I think about it, you're right! Thanks for bringing me full circle on that.

It's a common question people ask...

That one of my favorite things about this forum. No frigin adds all over the place littering everything up.

I guess technically the whole thing is and add for the monster though. But we like the monster so thats all good.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

I think we are talking about two different things. I was refering to FS, FT and WTB threads all in one subforum. What would that clutter up?

It sounds like your refering to Myspace and Facebook type adds. Commerical adds that are on almost every single web page and like some RC forums. Even "popups".

BrianG I see your point and I agree.

On one hand its a bit limiting, but on the other it keeps the circle tight and trustworthy. Plus, there are no brand restrictions like over at the TRX forums. I hated selling stuff there. Overall its a pretty good little niche.

That was the main reason why I was asking.

I have always wanted to know why there is a "pm for price" rule. I know it is obviously there for some reason but I can't seem to think of it.

TBH, I don't know the reasoning behind that one. Maybe it's to keep the back and forth haggling off the threads. All I know is that it's a rule from the Monster himself.
