Some Neat new 1/8th conversions from Ne09 - 04.13.2009, 08:12 PM

Durango-

The Durango electric 8th scale car is one of a kind and whilst it still features Losi suspension parts in this relatively early stage - the rest of the car is shaping up nicely.
The narrow alloy chassis is widened with carbon fibre side pods in this prototype

Gerd Pheifer and his custom Rc8 Buggy.-

Ishima Brushless Buggy- I love this one.

+1 on the above, from the pictures it looks like the e-maxx center diff/single motor setup....but the others are pretty sick!...looks like bushless 1/8th scale racing is taking off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im in awe of the idiot who was allowed to desgin that hotbodies, WTH were they smoking when they decided itd be great to put ALLL the weight on the same friggin side of the car........

the ishima is what other already said something that has been done, the cg is higher and the weight is farther out to the edges of the chassis which doesnt help anyhting thing, there are much better setups than that.

that rc8 looks good!

and the durango looks like we'd expect "overly complicated" .

This is what Mike had to say about the new Hot Bodies buggy. May interest some of you...

The Novak HV motor weighs 8.5 oz.(most 1/8 motors are heavier yet - a 1512 Neu weighs in at 10+oz)) and the battery tray weighs perhaps 2 -3 oz. - this leaves 8-9oz for battery weight(or 6-8oz if using a 1512 Neu).

It is reasonable to conclude that if we can find a 7-9 ounce battery that can propel the 8 pound buggy to competitive track speeds for 10 or so minutes, the proposed setup is perfect.

Hot Bodies is simply ahead of its time - give it a few more years and this battery will probably be available. :)

i just noticed that the rc8 doesn't have a top plate over the spur gear..... hmmmm....that would suck if it chewed through his lipo wires...

jnev i thought mike was being somewhat sarcastic in that post....maybe not i dunno, mike sells the lightest battery you can run in an 1/8th buggy for 10 minutes racing.....its a 6s 2500 pack and in josh's mp9 with a 1512 3.5d it is GREAT runs for right at 12 minutes doesnt get hot, has all the punch in the world, and isnt carrying around any wasted energy..... its the perfect setup, and josh's mp9 doesnt even make legal weight, its unders 7 pounds, he would have to add weight like a 1/10th scale 2wd lipo setup.

Im liking Gerd Pheifer's setup, but I dont like where he has that red wire runnig right in the 'notch' between spur and pinion- nom nom nom...

Some seriuosly nice setups though, even if the HB one does need some rethinking on the layout (stick rx and brake servo on the same side as the motor, leaving room for a large ~4s lipo on the steering servo side of the chassis, then move the CD further forwardss and flip the motor 180 so you have even more room for a lipo on the other side).
