Pillow Balls Keep Popping Out....Recommendations? - 05.03.2009, 04:27 PM

Pretty much what the title says. My pillow balls are constantly popping out. Is there a better option anyone has used with luck or should I just replace with stock?

i have the same problem during races...i even use the RPM ones...

get some brass tubing and slide it over the little flange where the dust boot seats on.
thjis prevents that area from flexing and wont allow the ball to pop out.

failing this...get some FLM ones...and after that you'll be pulling the thread out of the arms

Platinum Revo axle carriers have the retention ring built in. That is your simplest option or as Shaun said brass tubing to make your won.

You can also get the Tekno knuckles. They go above and beyond just the ring and also have bigger bearings and a 8mm axle kit.

Looks good, that is what I will do.

The tekno's look nice, however, I don't want to spend 80 bucks on knuckles that are still plastic and for 17mm adapters I don't need.

Thanks for all the tips everyone!

Edit: Anyone know what size bearings the platinum carriers use?

From Traxxas' parts list:

Axle carriers, left & right (1 each) (use with larger 6x13mm ball
bearings)/ bearing adapters (for 6x12mm ball bearings) (2)/ dust
boot retainers (4) .................................................. ............................$ 10.00

Well lucky me I found a guy on ebay selling the whole set of 4 with bearings and everything for 20 bucks shipped.

Edit: The guy has several more sets so here is the link for anyone else looking.
