Plettenberg - 05.08.2009, 04:48 PM

I had the opportunity to purchase a Plettenberg motor from LincP. Motor looks better in person and it looks gansta as James had described it. Is going to be hella fun once it goes into the GTP. Motor is right at the kv limit of the Losi ESC and got the wires nice and toasty on 3s2p A123.

All of them have fans iirc

Looks great.. Cant really tell from the pic- but how does it compare size wise to the 1515

You can get the maxx with or without a fan. The fan models have 5mm shafts, while the non fan models have 1/8 shafts.

There's also a difference in kv I thought. With fan has 100kv less I thought...

I can look and see that's probably a Maxximum not the BigMaxximum. It appears to be a little shorter in length.
My only concern is how small those wires are on the Maxximums. I just bought a small NEU motor 1509 and the wires are HUGE (as you can see in your picture). I'm now thinking about upgrading the wires on my Bigmaxximum to keep it cooler during runs. What do you think?

Not impossible, but very difficult to change those wires- if they are fly leads soldered to the windings at 3 points, then it might be possible, but if they are simply extensions of the windings, no chance. In truth though, if the wires dont get hotter than the motor during running, then theres no need to change them.

Don't worry about the wire size, those Plettenberg motors can't handle any more current that those wires can handle.

The motor wires are fine and the Losi ESC is not complaining.
I'm just going to dragrace the hyper on 4s A123. Did a few test runs yesterday and it's hella fun.
