E-revo on 2650 3s gearing question. -
05.17.2009, 07:42 PM
I recently got a MMM 2650 for the e-revo and since have had it geared for 30mph with the stuff I had on hand 18t stock pinnion and 54,58, 62, and i think a 68t spur, presently I have the spur as 58, after several basjhing runs around the neigborhood, I checked the temps and the esc is 150+ the motor is 150-170 and the lipos are just below 100. Does this mean I'm undergeared or overgeared?
Thanks for any help.

seems perfect where it is. To be honest thats the wrong system and voltage for a revo...

Its fine where its at. Gearing any other way may cause probs. Its a bit underpowered for the job, but will work as long as you don't push it too hard.

Yea I realize I got the wrong motor, but so far its ok, minus me being paranoid about temps. After saving a bit more I'll probly order a 2200kv combo and buggy at some point so that way I have a 2200 for the revo and the 2650 in a vehicle more suited to its power. By the way thanks for answering.

Put the 54 on that beast and keep an eye on the temps. I have a feeling it will cool off a bit, you are not pulling the lipos hard as they would be hotter. Sounds like the motor is not loaded enough. You can get 30mph out of the titans if you push em hard, and the MMM combo is about 5 times more powerful.

You were right linc just ran the revo with what was left of the batteries for maybe 5mins came in imediately and hooked up the data logger, temps are
Motor: 130 F
ESC: 95/100 measured in 2 spots
Batteries: 90 on both
thanks linc for the suggestion, now this makes me wonder, is it possible to step up the gearing to cool it off further and increase speed if even by a little?

It's possible. Just don't go overboard, if you do you will have worse heating issues than before.

I don't think I can get any smaller of a spur gear on it, so I'll see about getting a 20t pinion.
E-revo MMM 2200 6s zippy 50MPH of pure fun and parts destroying powa!
Futaba 3pk more controller then anyone person needs
TC5 top speed drifter 21mph on crappacks and 40 on calc
