the piece over the motor is from a 3-D mouse packaging, i cut it out and painted it just like you would with a body. it keeps the snow from piling up on the motor, snow still can get in.
the slash comes with waterproof electronics. i am using a brushed motor for now orion 17t but when traxxas's waterproof brushless is available i will put that in.

i believe the skis work way better then tires. they glide over the snow instead of digging in.
snowmobiles have skis for the same reason, especially for the over 1 inch deep of snow, and here in vermont 2-3 feet is normal. here is a video not with the current motor set up just a stock 27t with worn brushes.
