Finally Broke some parts on the Flux - 05.17.2009, 08:37 PM

Brother in law and I finally made it out to do some running today. (He's got one of my HV-maxx systems on his truck now)
This was going to be my first time running my PQ 4S 6000's. I ended up getting about 25-30 minutes of run time on them, and while the performance was a let down from 6S, it made both trucks run about the same speed.

Once again, we were in a dirt soccer field with our ten-eighty launch ramps. For some reason, on 4S I have a much harder time getting the truck to land on the wheels (not that I'm good at it on 6S), but I dont think I landed on the wheels more than 10 times. Most of the others were straight down on the front or rear bumpers. Needless to say, I sheared off the screws on the wheelie bar/bumper mount, and on the front bumper mount....other than that, it still runs great! I threw in my 6S for a couple backflips (both landed on the wheels!!), then our day was finished when my B'in law announced that he had busted yet another shock tower (this makes 4 straight)...

Ambient temp was 75, fan never came on, motor and batteries were both just slightly warm to the touch (maybe 100 degrees).

It was also the first time I have ever hit the LVC....

All in all, still very happy with the Flux. I think I should pull the diffs apart. It seems like its unloading to one side under full throttle, as the truck always veers to the right, but only when really putting the power down. It may also just be one of the tires balloning more than another....

It's nice to hear the Flux is holding up so well in the suspension department. My Savage is going to Flux bulks/shock towers so this is good news for me .

Any chance that the pulling to one side your truck does is due to torque twist?

What's torque twist?

Jeff sound like you had some fun. The HV Maxx didn't give your in law any problems??????? I don't know if I would let him get too close to mine. He hasn't had the greatest of luck with them. Actually was he in spokane a month ago when my HV esc took a dump?

You still got your Hellfire Jeff? I thought about it today. I was wondering if these would fit on the Savage XL. What do you think? They are the 17mm wide adapter for the hellfire.

Why do you call the ramps ten-eighty? Cost?

You know, that is very possible. That frame may not be stiff enough for the power. I'll have to figure how to see if thats contributing.

Torque twist is like what occurs when a car with a stock rear end launches at a drag strip - usually the drivers side ass end rises up, and you get the one wheeled wonder burnout.

Yeah, I usually have a blast - the longer I go without breaking something, the harder I hit the ramps to see how far I can push it (I really think I should be more involved on the "Beat your truck forum").

You know, he may have been in Spokane then....I'll have to tell him he owes you a new system too. I thought twice about loaning him mine, but I know he's good for it if it breaks (Momma will open up the vault for that!!). His luck has been nothing but bad all around for a while. The FLM chassis we put on for him was a big improvement, but still battling that rear shock issue. He was really hitting the jump light yesterday because he was worried about breaking it again - and it still broke.

Yeah, I do have the Hellfire - I'll have to check that and see if it has those. I think the hellfire just saw its last hope slither away when I got that 8ight-T. It likely doesnt stand a chance of getting put to use for anything other than a parts donor.

FWIW, for the Novak doubters out there, in regards to speed, I had nothing on that emaxx yesterday (both on 4S).

Oh - Ten-Eighty is the brand name. http://www.ten-eighty.com/Product_Detail.aspx?Id=490They are skate board launch ramps. I think I picked them up for about 20 bucks each on sale. Speaking of that, I need to head up to Joes today to see if they have any in their going out of business sale.

I still have that extra ESC is your in need of one.

Torque twist is usually the term used for rock crawlers, but in faster moving vehicles it is generally referred to as torque steer. Torque twist results in torque steer, though.
