Thought you guys may get a laugh... -

So I pulled a super noob moment earlier today.
I picked up a couple of MMs and cm36 motors off rcgroups. Supposed to be 1 good esc and motor and 1 bad esc and motor. For 100 bucks I could not pass it up, even if it will cost about 100 to get castle to fix the blown esc and motor.
So I decided to plug the escs into the castle link to see how they were programmed before I used them. Though this was a good idea in case they were setup for brushed. So I break out the castle link and plug them in, nothing. So I said crap and figured they were both blown. Later I decided to hook the "good" one up and see if it worked. Got it to arm and tried to program the high and low with the tx, it would take full throttle and full reverse but would not see neutral. Played with the tx until it did. Well it worked, and so did the good motor, so I put it in a box and went about my business. Later I decided to try out a hv motor with another MM (I have about 8 of them) and could not get it to set with the tx either. I cleared that model on the radio (m8) completely with the model clear function and tried again, but no dice. So I figured I would hook it up to the castle link and see whats up. Well castle link would not work, so I decided to upgrade to the latest version.
On a side note I would like to "thank" CC for making me fill out some sort of BS form to access the program. Just what a busy guy needs, irrelevant crap to fill out. Maybe they needed my phone number to give out to the census bureau so that they can pester me too? Good luck getting me any worthwhile info with what I put on the form!!!!
So that did not work either, so there I am scratching my head. All of a sudden I realize I am using the castle link with a MM. It has the link built in, but I was trying to program thru the rec harness, like you would with a sidewinder of a MMM. Wow, what a moment.. Anyways I get it programmed and updated, but it still will not program to the tx for neutral. So I start playing with the tx again, and what do I find but the little thumb wheel on the M8 that adjusts the brake exp... It was turned to 94%, zeroed that out and it worked like a charm. Funny that the model clear does not affect that, must be a global setting for all models?
I guess I am not a complete noob as I fixed the problem without need of a 4 day long 10 page thread but it was still funny.

Hey man, it happens to the best of us. Now just imagine working at a LHS! Sometimes such moments can occur many times over.
In all seriousness, though, any expo setting you set is universal to all models with the M8.

Good to know about the m8. I can understand about the lhs... I watched people do everything wrong multiple times, especially when they were in a rush. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and look at what you are doing...

The reason I know about that expo deal is because it was brought up recently, due to the Airtronics repair center being located in the building right behind the store I work at (all part of Global Hobbies).
And, IIRC, that problem exists will all "M" radios up to the last M11, the M11-X doesn't have any issues there.

Yeah what's up with the Castle data mining to access the latest firmware?
However the only required field is an email addy, and you can make one up... but still- most of us don't want to be bothered with that crap.

LOL. I did the exact same thing the other day. lol It had been so long since I messed with my MM's that I got used to the castle link and just brain farted on the whole thing. It would have been cool if CC made it work either way.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

That's funny James. I pulled off something even worse- when I just bought my first sidewinder esc I spent about 45 minutes trying to find the USB port on the esc, like there is on a MM...
