I've had my CRT .5 for a while now and it has spent more time broken than working. At first, before I could afford a 3s lipo for it, I was running it on 6c NiMH and managed to shear a turnbuckle in one of the upper A arms. I tried tapping it out to 4mm and using a spare 4mm Lunsford turnbuckle but it was too long and I'm not sure that I want to shorten it. After messing around with different turnbuckles nothing worked so I used a zip tie and it worked great. I ran for about 10 minutes and accidentally crashed into a tire on my car (not very hard) and bent the front center shaft fairly bad. Am I just having bad luck or is the CRT really weak? Any tips for toughening it up or should I just sell it off and spend the money on Baja parts?

I experienced similar with mine. I think we are expecting it to be as durable as an 1/8 buggy and it is just not that good. I think it is a better racer than basher my self...

That's unfortunate. I like it, it's fun to drive, and handles well (thanks for setting it up

) but if it is breaking every 10 minutes it's gotta go. I could get a Turtle Racing HD clutch system for my Baja for what I could get for the thing as a roller...

Did you buy mine? I cannot remember. I have had 2 of them, but did not run the rcm chassis version much. I really preferred the truck 12th scale with the little tires...

hmm...sorry to hear about that.

Mine's never really given me any problems. Then again, I only race it...hardly ever bash it.

Driving around the house is hardly even bashing

Both breaks so far have been from rather pathetic crashes into a car tire, every other RC I own is more than capable of handling that. Heck, even my Losi Micro Desert Truck has taken 20+ foot jumps without breaking anything and it's totally stock.

How similar is it? If it's at least got beefier A arms it shouldn't be as bad.

Here's what happened to my front center shaft:

I talked to Mike about it, he designed it so that the normal rear center is the same as the front with his chassis

That works out much better than having to order a special-made shaft.

I don't know how the a arms compare. I haven't head anyone say they are durable but at the same time I haven't heard anyone say they are weak. A few members are getting them soon so I'll just wait and see what they have to say. If they aren't durable I guess I'll have to save up and get a 1/8 truggy or e Revo...

hmm...how odd. My lil girl has had no problems handling jumps about 8ft in the air traveling for about a good 10ft. She's quadrupled just like the 1/8 truggies and she hasn't even so much as snorted.

I've never (knock on wood) bent a front or rear center drive shaft. I've broken arms, but that was due to bad landings or going darn near full tilt into the tires we have as barriers around the track.

Check your hinge pins and the little collar thingies (I know, I know...I'm so specific) that hold them in place on the camber bar (?). It could be that the collars are worn and have a little too much play in them.

This seems strange. The .5 is one of the most durable in my fleet.

My .5 is pretty tough. I did bend a rear shaft, but that was landing on the wing on a 20ft drop. Replaced w/ CNC braces and its bend solid.

The F turnbuckles are a bit weak IMO, broke 1 too, and seems the most common problem. Servo saver too I think if its on the outer hole. I haven't broke an a arm in a year tho w/ the newer style 3.5mm buckle. Overall quite tough IMO, bashed or abused on a 1/8th track

On my crt.5 I have broken 2 front lower a-arms and bent one front shock shaft pretty badly. All in all it is not as strong as a 1/8 as linc mentioned above, however, they are fun. Don't get me wrong...I love the truck

I also agree that they are better suited for the track than as a basher especially w/Mike's ext. chassis kit

ive had mine since they were released. My most commonly broken parts have been front arms and front camber links and gas tank lid springs that loose tension and leak and twice i broke the bearing carrieing bib on the rear diffs ring gear after real hard landings but other than that i replace worn out drive cups every three to five weeks and ive worn out the hop up universals once a year .as an E truck ive ran it twelve or fifteen full pack a week for three months and ive only busted a front arm and a rear carrier plate for the arms.i hate to say it the way my crew says it but,dont crash and you wont break!the problum is ,if you run you will crash and you might brake and ive busted every rc car ive ever raced .hope you get it man youll have a blast i just think your expectations are a little unrealistick.
