grinding 6mm shaft to 5mm?

what is the best way to grind a 6mm motor shaft to 5mm? my KB45-8xl's shaft is loosening up from the rotor when it heats up and it is almost like the slipper clutch is slipping. i checked and it is for sure the motor. what could i do to fix this?

also, back on topic, my spare motor is a 1400kv KB45-12l. it is a shorter motor than the xl and still has that dang 6mm shaft. i bought the 8xl motor used with the shaft already ground down, but the 12l is brand new with the 6mm shaft.

what is the best way to grind down the motor shaft?

Send it to a machinist to have him lathe it down.

Yea if its not milled perfectly round it will wobble and then trash your mount and spurgear.

you can run it while filing it, or run it and use a dremel against it. you're only taking off 1mm, and if you run the motor while grinding it its almost impossible to grind it off center.

I would just buy the pinions from kershaw.. I've had pretty good luck with his pinions... it's till holding up, running on my 18Lbs monster truck on a really hard spur gear...

It should be ground, send it to an automotive crank grinder to get it accurate. A good man should not be afraid to do it. He can even put the flat on the shaft.

On the other issue, sounds like the magnet has detached from the shaft- if it isnt broken or cracked, you should be able to glue it back in place with something like jbweld or red locktite.

thank you. the motor still spins smoothly and doesn't heat up really bad, so i'm hoping it is just detached and not broken or cracked.
