need some help on brakes with a conversion.. - 06.07.2009, 05:07 PM

i'm converting another 8ight to brushless, and this time i want to use the mechanical brakes powered by the second servo. i'm also using an HV-110 with pistix for an esc so i'm not gonna have traditional esc brakes like surface escs do....

my question is this...how do i set up the mechanical brakes for use? do i need a 3 channel receiver? ...ch 1 for steering, ch 2 for the esc, and channel 3 for the brakes? how does this work? Can it work on a 2 channel radio?

any help is greatly appreciated.

All you need is a Y- Harness for your second channel.

Yeah, what he said. The servo will still be moving in the positive motion of throttle input, but not until you move into reverse direction will the servo rod bottom out on the brake lever and start doing it's braking action.

It is easier IMO to use the 3rd channel if you have a radio which allows the 3rd channel to operate off the trigger (but independent of the 2nd channel). This way you can adjust the brakes without touching channel 2. Some radios would call this brake mixing.

But a y-harness on channel 2 will work as well, just gotta make sure the Pistix goes between the y-harness and the ESC.
