Hi all new here, I've been racing this little rocket now for over a month now,and if your on the fence about buying one? Buy 2!!! I have driven everything under the sun it seem's like,nitro and electric and this little pocket rocket has put more smile's on my face than any other car or truck in agesDon't let it's small size fool you,this thing is setting times at our track that made even the hard core nitro guy's take a second lookI have beat the snot out of this puppy,and still nothing has broke!Just keep an eye on screws loosening up.After several different set-ups this is the one I setteled on...Diffs 353 front to rear,40wt front shocks,35wt rear,no droop front or back,I also took off the shock boots,as they seemed to be limiting the travel.CC Sidewinder/5700 combo with the stock 14t pinion,a simple clip-on 8 fin heat sink on the motor,I also cut a hole in the middle of the front window to get some air flow.Without the hole I had some thermaling issue's,but none after the hole was cut.Ive been useing bowtie's or jconcept all around depending on how dry the track is.I put the truck on my scale's to get the balance with different batteries installed,and ended up using my 8000mah 20c Spec Point Concepts battery.The heavy battery made the balance all most perfect,and the extra weight kept the truck planted on the track!!!

I drove linc's the other day, I must say that this little thing is pretty fun and super quick with a Neu 1509.

Temps were not too bad either, considering the lack of any cooling holes in the body. I plan to move the mm over the servo and make a new top plate for the cd so I can get the rx up there. I may even run a fan on the mm so I do not have to cut up the body. I find when I make large holes the bodies do not last as long, crack and split easier.

i use a 1/8" drill bit or smaller to make holes in the windsheilds of my trucks. the small holes don't seem to affect the longevity of the body too much. i am most-likely getting a mini hyper ste and i will run 2 setups: light as possible for racing and jumping, and for general street runs or bashing, a heavy, long runtime setup with big tires.

i used to have issues with bodies cracking in the front when i made 1 big hole in windsheilds and the small hole method fixed that problem

Hey guys, I finally got one of these little beasts, used but comes with a MM and a VXL motor and lots of spares. I read thru the posts on here that the VXL is probably not the best motor for this app, but with Medusa gone what are my motor options other than the a Neu, which is more than I want to spend on a motor right now. I'll post some pics up when I get it.

Anyone out there have some recommendations for a good reliable motor for the mini STe? Maybe hobby city has something that will work?

Aside from a neu, your next best bet would be a feigao L can motor. Those can be had relatively cheap and preform much better than the hobby city motors (spinning toasters of death???).

I use a 1509 in mine, picked it up for 100 bucks, very lightly used.

Damn, I want Medusa back...I will definitely keep an eye out a Neu 1509.

I noticed that Electrifly makes an ammo motor in the same size as the Medusa 36-50-3300 are these any good or will it not be strong enough and over heat?

I did not have much success with the electrifly motor that i tested, although others have had success... Look on rcgroups and offshoreelectrics forums, usually you can find a deal on the smaller neu 1506 and 1509 motors. Not sure of OSE still has the 15 series neus on sale, but that is worth a try as well.

Those velineon are fine motors for this application. IF you snap the smaller 1/8 shaft it's cheap to replace. Mind you I said IF, as the likely hood is low. The medusa are awesome, but use the velineon and enjoy it, it will do you well so long as you keep it geared 35-38mph range which is plenty fast for bashing or racing. High speed asphalt runs obviously can be geared up but that's another story.

Are these little truggy's to small for a grass track ? the grass is about 1/2 inch high !

Thats good to know, I will stick with the velineon motor for now then and hopefully I wont have to worry about gettng another motor.
