Yup, thought I posted here for forgot.

This time things went better, much better.

I ran the Neu 1512 2.5D/F motor combined with a Mamba Monster ESC fresh back from Castle.

Went with a 15T pinion as that is the smallest that will fit. with the spacer however that RC monster makes, you could run a smaller pinion (maybe 1 or 2 teeth) if you dremel the lower fin.

Anyway, first heat and second heats didn't go so well, tire selection was off. The Hyper 9E from what I can tell is very sensitive to tire selection. Things I could get away with on my RC8 the hyper 9e wasn't having it. I am running the Hyper 9 setup on nitrohouse.

3rd heat I ran different set of tires but work on driving smooth. Also paying more attention to attitude of vehicle off of jumps. The hyper 9E really responds mid air to how you pitch the wheels. I have seen the pros do the wheel pitching thing to straighten out, but I found I could almost make the vehicle come off a jump and land at a 45 degree angle.

So, were are in the mains now, I qualified 3rd in the B. This time I went for my soft tire, the JConcepts blue compound double dees. I wasn't too sure on how well they would perform, but I figured the compound may stick better. Boy was I suprised in a good way. The buggy was on rails after that. It felt very planted and true around the track. I was up on the field pretty good till I lost the pinion for the second time that day. Would have bumped up to the A main.

From what I can tell, the pinion seemed to work free of its blue threadlock, maybe the heat on the pinion had something to do with it? Motor temps and ESC temps were fine, about 150 - 160 on the motor, and 120 on the ESC. battery was about 105, and this is with no holes drilled in the body.

All in all, highly impressed. This vehicle is money. period. Just keep in mind that its very sensitive to tire selection. And I think the stock ofna oil may be a tad light. Other than that, simply awesome. I also broke no parts, and I did nose dive a few jumps pretty good too.

Any Updates from you 9E owners and racers ?

I just started reading this thread and befor I finished I went ahead an orderd a 9E for myself. I was wrestling for weeks weither to get the D8,D8e, Rc8B and was up in arms with confusion. The 9E sold me with the chassis layout and some of the guys expressing surprise and happiness how the buggy handled even with the larger packs.
With a little luck I shoud receive it by weeks end,fat fingers crossed :-)

I plan on installing a NEU 1515 1Y, M.M.M. and using 4s
Gearing looks like 15-16t pinion, but will clearify via BrianG's calculator.

I read where most guys are running shocks Wt's at 35F and 30R, this still the happy medium ?
I seen Marvin wrote he used 5K/F,5K/C,3K/R diff viscositys, general consensis still holding on that also ? My tracks generally run dry and dusty except on race days then it's dialed.
Anybody figure out what after market bodys fit and work the best ??

Any other input will be appreciated ! I'm anxious as all get out !!!

Hey welcome to the 9E club. There is more posting action over on RC Tech, including a racer who runs with the big dogs in CA.

5-5-3K seems to be the popular diff setup. I plan to give it a try or at least 5-5-2k.

Same goes for oil weights.

Guys are going with blue rear spring too.

Love the car, its a beast for sure. the main thing I am seeing though is that its very sensitive to tire setup. So make sure you are spot on with your tires other cars I could be a little more off and still make a go of it.

I bought some crimefighters and a set of Calibur V3 Premounts, hopefully they will be what I need for now. Plus it should comme w/crimefighters ?

Whats going on with the mud gaurds ??
Will the Regular Hyper 9's gaurds be made to fit the chassis ? I realized counter sinking the holes are required. More less curious about the correct shape to mount cleanly ???

Any up grades nessasary ?
Already found and ordered the aluminum shock caps, still looking for someone who has the CNC'd rear toe plate in stock.

it comes with crimefighter M2s, V2 white dish wheels, and ofna molded foam inserts.

nothing on the body. hopefully we see something in the future. blue springs to be used on the rear, they are softer than stock.

not sure about the mudguards, it may be possible, and I have seen pics of what someone has done, may be on this thread, but if your track is ran dry may not be much of an issue.

Answer-rc is where I ordered my rear plate from. Its very nice. definitely worth a buy.

The chassis channeling also does a good job of keeping the bottom of the chassis pretty clean in my opinion. mine is not all scraped up like my previous RC8 was.

I am still very happy with mine. I am still running the stock springs but have a heavy battery (654g). I haven't played with the setup much. Just changed shock oil and the center diff fluid.

As cain said there is a guy on rctech that runs with the pro's and has posted his setup there.

As for the body, I am running a pro-line but am hoping for something narrower. Will probably check out the hotbodies ve8 body when it comes out. If it is narrow enough to make up for the lack of mudguards then I will run that.

The normal Hyper 9 mud guards will not work, as they have the radio box built into them. The chassis has angled sides on the nitro version too.

You've made a good choice Bondonutz. I don't know what actually came in the diffs, so I stripped and rebuilt them with 5/5/3. The track I race at is dry and dusty too, so 5/5/3 seems about right.

Hopefully the Ve8 body will fit nicely, as many have said, it's the only thing holding the buggy back. That and the plastic shock tops. Though they've now released the Hyper 9 Pro, which has 1 piece aluminium shock caps. The rear toe-plate is definately worth it, for those 'arse down' landings.

thanks. Seen on special RC they have what I think is the hyper 9 GL. Interestingly looks like they did the steering knuckles in plastic, or they are available in plastic as the "B" version?

Scored aluminum caps of Fleabay for 30.00 with hardware,I guess from a kit ? I ordered the Hyper9 mudgaurds already Poo. I bet i can make them work and look clean,well see.

Are the Front arms Electric Specific ? I need to download the manual/parts list.

I also found hubs that will give 4mm/6mm/8mm spacing for a wider track, Will this allow better handling or not needed ?
