Another southern hemisphere favourite would be Tim Tam biscuits, hmmmmmmmm I sent a pack to a guy on the TRX forum a while ago as he had them on a trip to Australia and it was treat he tried and thought they where the best bikkies made
...and dont foget the infamous timTam Scam we had here in Japan by an enthusiastic Aussie...basically TimTams imported form the guys local supermarket in Aussie sold for MULTIPLE times the money here...TimTams are what makes all the exchange student girls get fat :D
...Vegemite and celery sandwiches...Probably the foulest lunch concoction my mother ever produced...Then there was the time when i thought it would be funny to black out all my teeth (like a pirate) with Marmite...Did you know there IS a limit to how much marmite one person should consume lol...
...tastes like Japanese miso (basically soy bead curd) if that helps anyone understand the concept...
EDIT: ...oh and just for the record...I am a Kiwi not an Aussie ;)
I just tried this new vegemite yesterday. I wasn't expecting to like it cause I'm a big fan of the original and not the other 'mites. My wife spread it thinly on a slice of bread and then on crackers..... I can't say it tasted much at all.
I had it again tonight and I slapped it on 3 or 4 times as thick. After that experience I can safely say I'll never buy it again. It has vegemite flavor but is close to tasteless. I reckon it's purely a marketing ploy to appeal to the larger population.
Possibly a good move for Kraft but it's just not OKA..... and neither is Kraft. Silly isn't it we can't even make our own distinctly Australian food.
lol, I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to do when having a hangover is eat something! I'll save the Vegemite for when I feel up to it. It would be interesting to try though. Anyone know of a place in the US that sells it and tastes like it should?
