Carpet users... - 07.31.2009, 09:09 PM

I have been tired of spending $8 a can on paragon and I really go through it with me running three cars(buggy slash and 1/10 stadium) so I went searching on the net. I found that paint thinner works the same if not better than paragon. It needs to be wiped on then right when you wipe it on its ready to go! I love it I tired it today at my local track and it works great! A quart of thinner cost me $6 at home depot.

Just wanted to pass on the idea

I havn't ran carpet in probably 10 or 12 years, but we always used a mix of wintergreen oil and thinner/mineral spririts.

Yea I tried mineral oil and such with lesser effects. I just pour it in an old empty paragon can. Now I need to do something with the smell.......is thinner harmful if you get it on your hands or is it the same as paragon?

I think thinner, like most other things that work good is a carcinogen. I do a fair amount of painting, and get thinner on my hands all the time, laquer thinner will dry out your skin, mineral spririts is kinda oily. I think the wintergreen oil was the trick ingredient. I don't remember what the mix was 50/50 or what. It smelled/worked like paragon.

It's not good

Thousands of MSDS online if you can be bothered, subtle differences between brands but skin contact is out, fumes are out etc

Find a small cut, apply a few drops...enjoy!

Yea i'm not going to have my hand covered in it but I just want to know that its not going to do major damage. I've worked with paragon for 3 years now so if i'm good thus far I think i'll be okay. Hmm....wintergreen oil, i'll try that. I did a test with one tire having thinner and another having paragon and the paragon is much oilier(sp?) so I will get some winter green oil and try it out.

Thanks for the info guys!

I'll recycle this thread for another question...

Any recommendations on a motor for a crt.5 running on 3s or 4s(#xl or #l feigao series). I just want a good overall bashing motor. I traded a 17.5, 13.5 and a SMC lipo for a crt.5 rtr
Maybe its me but I think thats a pretty good deal on my part. It's coming with a o.s. .12tz so i'll be selling that for a motor/esc/battery combo. Anyone know a good price for a o.s. .12tz with 2 gallons on it? They go for just about $240 new.
