Brushless Kyosho DBX - 08.09.2009, 04:29 PM

Here's my Kyosho DBX I converted to brushless. I originally had Hobbywing 17.5T 2400kV motor in it, but sold that and put in a Medusa 3650V1 3300kV motor running on 3s. Simply put, it is FORKIN AMAZING!!! I liked my DBX before, by now, I absolutely love it. It's super fast. The ESC is extremely smooth (no low speed glitching, but it doesn't go crawler speed though) and runs cool. The motor without the fan hits 120F on a 90F day (pretty good). It's just a super fast setup that lightweight, extremely agile, handles amazingly (I love 4WD), and overall a super blast to drive. I still need to re-wire the fan on the motor as it's a 12V fan and currently running on 6V. The DBX is pretty close in size to a 1/8 buggy...about 20mm shorter (wheelbase) and 1" wider than a 1/8 buggy. I've thought about extending the chassis 27mm, making it the size of a 1/8 buggy. Even if it's longer, it's still ligther than a 1/8 buggy so it should still be very quick and agile without needing a lot of power to make it silly fast. I think the DBX/DST is under-rated and hope it gets more attention. Anyways, here's some pics of my old and new setup.

My setup is:

Hobbywing EZRun 60A ESC
HXT 6V/3A UBEC (from Hobbycity)
Graupner graphite motor mount (from OSE) - modified by me
Medusa 3650V1 3300kV 5mm-shaft 4-pole motor
40mm 12V fan for Medusa
3.5mm bullet connectors (I'll swap them for 4mm if I find them inadequate. So far, they're working fine.)
13T Mod1 Pinion
Ofna Ultra LX One Yellow Springs
Mix of 20wt and 60wt shock oil
