this bothers me too.
it's going to change language of future generations in my opinion.
but i am also a culprit. i do not type perfectly but i try my hardest to speak correctly and not fall to the "i seen you" or "where is you" crowd.

Do you know what really bothers me? Being in a line at the grocery store titled "10 items or less". Arrgg! It's "10 items or fewer".

Or when I ask someone how they're doing (usually as an informal greeting), and they reply "I'm doing good". It takes all my willpower not to respond "It's 'I'm doing well'".

Byte, I am with you on this. It was different when I was 12 and just realized I could use foul language but come on people. How do you function in a professional world like that? One of the first turn offs when dealing with a vendor/contractor for me is if they start cussing like a drunken sailor right off the bat. This can pretty much guarantee I will not use them.

I had a contractor on my last big job that cussed every other word, literally. I asked his boss to remove him from my job permanently or he would lose the contract. I have customers that come around too, I can't have this type of behavior going on.

The grammar and spelling on the forums doesn't get to me too much and unless it's just horrible. When a post if that bad or especially if it's just one long run on sentence I stop reading and go to the next post in line.

However nitrostarter, the South Louisiana accent is a whole other cookie! I love Louisiana and thick Nawlin's accents. If I didn't have a Texas accent (that's Texas, not southern people) I would want a Louisiana accent for sure, then Australian would be 3rd. An Aussie accent is like a British accent with balls! My apologies to all you Brits who I have offended with this remark......

My cousin moved to Australia some 10+ years ago and now has an Aussie/Texas accent and I am kind of jealous. People really trip when he's back home and they hear a black guy (he's half black but looks all black) with his accent speaking.

Yes we are!

But in our defense, look at what our jackwad former president (not capitalized on purpose) did to the language.

Yes, a shining example of word usage, and eloquence to put a Noble Laureate to shame.

Some more favorites:

irregardless

heighth

changed-out, changed-up

riddle-me-this

TomKat, Brangelina (and various other stupid celeb name fusions)

Every lame campaign (or advertising) slogan

A company's "Mission Statement"

..... yes woe to the kids, they'll have to decipher every new 'ism' that comes their way... or is it they're... there?

OMGWTF!!! I'll never figure this out! English is stupid!

Guys, I'm getting tired of editing out the F bombs. Stop it or the thread will get deleted.

Tex: "An Aussie accent is like a British accent with balls!"

Eh, I dunno, sounds like they are trying too hard almost. Very colorful though...

And while we're on this, the English like to say "I don't have an accent, you have the accent!"

OK so why is it the non-accent disappears whenever a Brit sings?

Riddle me that!

English people don't have an accent as they invented that language that we all know and love, with all its colourful expressions. It's everyone else that have the accents, as we invented the English language (with all the French, Germanic, Celtic, Latin and Scandenavian words that are in it), and so only we pronounce everything correctly (I'm in for some stick for this )...

Something that really bothers me is a lack of punctuation, especially where apostrophes are concerned. Some people never use them, and others cannot stop themselves from using them, except when they are actually in the correct place, at which point, they forget about them! Argh!

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

Byte, yes I deleted your post. The language does not offend me personally, but this is Mike's forum and I do not believe he would like to see that level of language here. If you have a problem with that, talk to him.
