Reverse with mech brakes and direct drive

Problem is channel does not have a nice trigger or a switch you can apply proprotional control. I even tried a 4 channel stick controller and put brakes on the right stick. Since I fly model helicopters I got used to applying throttle on the right and brakes on the left but somehow it didnt feel 'right'
