Alignment Recommendations? - 08.26.2009, 03:24 PM

I am setting up my 1/16 E-Revo for speed runs (asphalt). I am runnign belted slicks now and may run foams in the future. I just added the adjustable toe links, so I can optimize the alignment. What toe and camber settings would you recommend as a good starting point for this vehicle? I would like to maximize straight-line stability and minimize speed-robbing tire scrub. Any recommended specs that will gove me a good balance?

Thanks

A small amount of negative camber and zero toe

camber same f and r, you may want a bit of toe in on the rear. Try it at 0 and see, it may be a bit twitchy in the rear without any. I am by no means an expert, HERE is a little "light" reading on suspension tuning.

My stock rear toe-in was something like 4 degrees, maybe even more. I set it to 1 degree of negative camber and 1 degree of toe-in front and back. I ran it up and down the street a few times at lower speeds (50-55 mph) and it still seems stable. I'm hoping it will be a little more efficient without the excessive toe-in.

Thanks

That sounds like pretty good settings, good to hear it working out for ya. What kind of speeds are you planning to get it to?

Well, it has done a best of 73 mph so far, with the old alignment. That was in front of my house using a Bushnell radar. I'm still experimenting with batteries and trying to get a longer run, as I believe it is still accelerating when I pass the radar. The first goal is 80 mph. I'm hoping I can get up to that with the current setup. Once I have maxed out this setup, I will be looking to step up the voltage.
