My G3R - 09.14.2009, 07:57 AM

Hi guys, first post on here but have been reading the forums for a few weeks now.
I bought an E-Revo off ebay a few weeks ago. Some of the mods are as listed:

G3R alloy chassis
Integy alloy bumpers and skids
Alloy Rockers and Shock towers
GMaxx single speed tranny
NEU 1515 1y electric motor
MMM ESC
Futaba 3PM 2.4ghz
2x Tanic A123 6s packs
Hitec 985MG servo
Pro Line 40 series Bowties
RPM True track rear end

Since getting it I have changed the rear arms to the Traxxas extended ones.
Fabricated a new ESC mount (the original one was above the rear shocks) and fitted the wing.
This truck is an absolute animal, on the 6s A123 packs it absolutely flies, currently running 20/66 gearing, but will be experimenting to find the best ratio.
Here are some pictures of how it looks now its all done!

Welcome to the forum!

Really nice looking monster there! I'm jealous! I would definitely hang on to it for a long time as well. The G3R's are extinct and will be a high priced collectors item eventually.
The performance if this chassis is top notch and hard to duplicate.

However, some here will chastise you for the use of A123's. While they are superior to NiMh packs, they are lacking the potency and abilities of quality LiPo's. Something you should look into....

I dispute their potency and quality vs lipos - they are great...

They do weigh a ton though! Trust me I ran 6s2p a123 on my G3R but just swapped to hard case lipos and it is much much much much much much much much better...

I confess that I was very suprised...

My a123s always end up quite warm by the end of a 10-15minute run- compared to my zippies that are barely above ambient usually. 30-60c 4600mah vs 25-35c 8000mah, an interesting comparison, but I prefer my zippies since they give me much better runtime and more punch...

Which Zippies do you run suicideneil? I was already thinking of selling the A123s and running the truck on 4s lipo.
I already run it on my 30c 2s lipos in series to make 4s (is that 2s2p?) and like the performance, I find the 6s A123 is a bit too fast for what I need.

If you want cheap good batts get the new turnigys 2 2s 5000mah 30c with 40c burst for 10 sec. Sign up with your email to get the best price. I got the regular shipping and still got them and a charger in a week. They might be out of stock though might want to check.

I use the older Zippy H lipos, not sure you can still get those from hobby city.

Using 2x 2s lipos in series is just equal to 4s; using them in parallel would make them 2s2p.

The turnigies or Flightmax branded lipos would be best these days, from hobbycity.

Here is our latest video from our bash session yesterday.
I was running on 4s lipos and the black revo was switching between 2 and 3s packs. It runs a Novak HV 4.5.
I have decided that the 6s2p A123 is too much power for what I need and will be selling them to buy some more 4s packs.

That video was great! Keep 'em coming, that bashing spot is incredible.

Welcome to RCM. Nice G3R you picked up. For once I agree with sullie, nice job on the video. It was one of the better ones I've seen lately.

Hi Guys, I have decided to sell the Revo, although its heaps of fun and tough as nails, I have decided to get a Truggy instead. I will be selling it as a roller so if anyone is interested send me a PM.
