tc4 ball diff help needed - 09.22.2009, 05:54 PM

Hey need some help here a friend of mine just got a tc4 and went BL with it it has a spool in fr. and the ball diff in rear. it seems to send all the power to the front (spins tires) so we brought it in and tightened the rear diff but still no good, any ideas. I'm looking to get one also and hoping we get all the bugs worked out of his before I try on-road w/BL. thanks for the time.

is it only the front tires that seem to have power going to it? If so, try tightening up your rear diff. If both front and rear have power going to them but the front is spinning more, then try loosening up the front a tad.

Check the drivetrain for anything loose or inconsistencies with diffs. It might possibly be a stripped spur brace in in the rear or you could be missing a pin.

also check the dogbones or universals in the rear. You might be missing a pin there as well.

LOL don't take this the wrong way but did you read the original post? All power was going to front (which is a locked spool, no adjustment available). They tried tightening the rear and it still unloaded to the front.

Anyway, how old is the rear diff? Has it been run for a long time without a rebuild? Might be that the plates and diff balls are worn and even tightening the diff all the way will still allow slippage.

What kind of brushless setup is he running? What type of battery and how many cells?

If you don't want the front spinning out more, take the spool out of the front.

Well depending on the spur/pinion he's using he could have that thing geared for 50mph! Maybe try a 2s or 3s? Might just be too much power with 4s and it's causing the ball diff to slip (especially if the ball diff is already worn and needs rebuilding)

EDIT: I also wanted to add that his motor is running about 50,000 rpm on 4s with wide-open-throttle, which is pushing the max rpm for the Velineon 3500.
