Best to use a 1/5 scale Rx pack.

Good for 10S, all e has done VERY well by me, ships from AZ to NY in 2 days, everytime!
it says that hyperions is good for 10s or 40v but 10s is actually 42v so i am not so sure about that. the medusa bec is good 45v or 10s which makes more sense. its on backorder with allerc.com though. i will have to find it somewhere else.

so the bec has to be hooked up to the 10s pack? it doesnt just connect to the 2s rx pack and then the reciever?

lol If Hyperion says 10S, it's good for it. I did notice that it said 40 and not 42 volts, kinda strange but I'd ignore that.

For input it says 8-40 volts, so 2S is fine.

Lutach, I am a RX pack user, but only because I haven't bought the Hyperion BEC yet!

The Rx pack is the safest bet specially when using those huge servos in the 5th scale.

I would use a 14.8 Volt 4000mah pack with a UBEC.. weights less than 5 NiMH and more wattage.. Plus you could run fans off of it as well(If you wanted to)..

whats a ubec? man, i am getting confused. i need to sit down and learn more about this stuff. i do have fans that i will need to run. i have always used y-harnesses in the past to run my fans. whats another way of powering fans with the ubec?

I thought this new big high torque servos were meant for 2S lipos.

BEC=UBEC battery eliminator circuit or universal battery eliminator circuit. Most fans are 12v, you've already configured your setup for 6v fans, which is fine. With a 4s pack you could power the fans directly from the lipo pack. (they can handle a little over voltage.)

Like those $200 JR hi-volt servos?

I'm sure they are well worth it, but most RXs still won't support over 6V to my knowledge- so that makes it a problem.

James, most any brushless fan will be fine up to about 75% over spec'd volts. And wow do they work. Buddy of mine has 2 2" BB fans rated 12V, run on 16.8 normally, and have been run at 25V, no issues. I have 2 1" Novak fans rated at 5V, running 8.4 for over 3 years. No worries!

I think the Spektrum Rxs can handle up to 9V

Now that you mention.. yeah I think it was 9.6 even, but what about the Futaba owner who tries to use one of the JR servos at 8.4.......

so i went and picked up the castle bec pro good for up to 12s and 20 amps, which is very high amps for bec i am told. anyway, all my fans are 6v. i do have 12v fans too but currently my build makes use of 6v fans. my servos are the hpi sfl-30mg 1/5 size for steering and for brake i have available a futaba s9157 and a jr9100hvt. the jr is capable of using 7.4v input but the steering servo can only go up to 6v so i will probabaly use the fut s9157 as it is rated at 425oz at 6v and the jr is 403oz at 6v.

is it possible to run 7.4v to one servo and just 6v to the other?
