Now that you mention.. yeah I think it was 9.6 even, but what about the Futaba owner who tries to use one of the JR servos at 8.4.......

is it possible to run 7.4v to one servo and just 6v to the other?
The HV servos were born from the rock crawler crowd, and they generally power the servo directly off a 2s lipo pack and use a BEC to give 6v to the rest of the electronics.
So, if you run a 2s receiver pack you could power your HV servo and then use your new BEC to power everything else. (BEC paralleled to the HV servo off the 2s)
To directly power the HV servo just run the + and -of the receiver plug directly to thhe 2s pack. Run the third wire (the signal wire) in the receiver plug to the receiver like normal.

I'm still hanging in there. I got a new to me truck last week so I've been busy with that.
I got my battery mounting plates mounted last night. I need a tap to make holes in my new motor mount plate. I should have time this weekend since that wife and kids are going back home to visit her uncle.
hey all,
so i am going to be using the castle bec to power the esc and reciever. but i have a small 2s 1350mah lipo that i want to use strictly for my 6v fans. how would i hook this up? do i just connect the batter directly to the fans? or maybe connect to a switch harness and then the fans? or do i need some type of resistor or something like with led's?

you don't need a seperate lipo pack. well, you can do if you want, they have 7,4 volts, which means good cooling with the 6v fans, no problem at all for sure.
or, you plug the cable for the fan into the receiver. there you get, depending on the ubec/bec, about 5 or 6 volts. if the bec is powerful enough for the big servo, don't worry about the fans. just don't plug the 6v fans onto 10s...
thanks guys. and you will see this in action soon...very soon. i stopped by the machine shop today and they were working on my hubs. in fact, they are probably done now and i can go pick them up so i can get my brakes installed this weeked too. i am gonna get the esc and bec all hooked up right now and ready to go and then start working on the brakes tonight. my buddy has a killer hi-def camcorder and will shoot the vid. so if he is available this weekend we should see some action. i am crossing my fingers.

SWEET!... luckily you have a buddy who works at the machine shop... It's going to be awesome seeing urs and Kazs' video....

yeah, i was thinking of starting a new thread. we'll call it the "Official thread for 1/5 Redcat Rampage Brushless Conversions" and all of us post some pics and vids of our final rides in there. and i am sure we will see more in the future. its such a great 1/5 to convert cuz its affordable. i am into mine about the same as it cost me to do a nice 1/8 buggy or truggy. what do you guys think?

well my plan was to get the esc all hooked up tonight since i have the bec and everything now but since my machinist finished the parts for my hubs i decided to work on the disc brakes instead. here are some pics. tomorrow will be esc day and test run without brakes. i need to order a couple of parts to finish up the brake system. probably gonna be another week to get the brakes finished but i will try to get a video before then. there are a ton of small, time consuming, mods needed to make these disc brakes work.
to make the disc brakes work i had some small aluminum blocks made that attach to the hubs and then the calipers attach to them. a few pics.
