Is 2 hours possible? (Lipo receiver pack run time) - 10.08.2009, 09:36 PM

So I got a lipo receiver in the Mugen. The last race I ran it was a 20 min main and I only used 300mah and its a 2020mah pack!! And that also includes some warm up time and a few practice laps, but lets say 20 minutes b/c its a easy number to work with.
So if I use 300mah in 20 min then that means I will only use 900mah in 60 minutes and 1800mah in 120 minutes. I just dont remember whats the deal about running the lipos down so low.
Reason I am asking is b/c I am gonna be doing a 5 hour (thats right, 5 hour) truggy endurance race. 1 team of 4, one chassis. Not having to come in for 2 hours for a battery change would be amazing!
So my question is, do you guys remember how low I can run the lipo?

3 Volts per cell is the lowest voltage recommended for lipos.

Also, remember that there are many things that depend on how much current you use. A track with more turns will draw more than a track with less turns, so it is advised to run some sort of device that can monitor the pack (some sort of telemetry would be great here).

Go to HC website you might be able to find a even higher MAH pack to fit the radio box, maybe 5 hrs on 1 battery might be feasable ?
You might be better off with a 3s and a volatge regulator in a 2000mah and be able to get 5hrs easier ?
Someone with more knowledge should chime in sooner or later to assist more.

Thanks guys. I think I will try to run 100 minutes per pack. That's an hour and 40 minutes. But I will check with my team what they wanna do.
But more input from the people here would be helpful.

Thanks

lowering the voltage sounds like a waste to me.
think about it, ESC's are more efficient when going flat out (less FET on/off phases) so hence running a pack that can do 6v for the whole time would be better imo

the porthole from the noob world an here has been opened!! that's how i got in.
