hyundai's genesis coupe is a great performer - 300+ horses for $25k? but.... it doesn't handle as well as some of the more experienced cars in it's class. but they'll learn, tweak, and it'll get there. :)

The new Taurus SHO looks pretty awesome, as well as the Flex that also gets the 350+hp turbo V6 (tho not everyone likes the styling, but I do.)

IDK wtf GM is doing. All the excitement of a Toyota with the quality of a Kia. Dodge (if it can really even be called American anymore...) tries to make interesting veh, but they suffer from such chitty quality I would never buy one.

Dodge is my fav company. "for the trucks" I know chrysler owns them but im not a real big fan of them...

My dad has a Durango R/T and my brother has had a Dakota for quite a while. The amt of things that have gone wrong on those trucks is astounding. Not that many miles for their age either. Fortunately my brother is pretty handy, but I can tell you if I buy I truck, I don't expect to be welding arm brackets back on the frame and replacing head gaskets.. before 80K miles. OTOH, the doors have not fallen off, like a few Neon owners I've known (yes, more than one...)
Least I can constantly tease my brother for talking my Dad into the Durango. That's what you get for buying an Ameri...no wait, German...no wait, Italian truck.

The new Hemis are super cool and all, but damn.. too bad you got to buy the rest of the truck to get it. ;) I used to like Chevy, but they have been disappointing for a while and their diesels are unreliable. Never thought I'd end up liking Ford as much as I do.

I have many friends that have had dodge trucks all I can say those truck are lemons from the factory and you better be a mechanic if you own one. My 2004 chevy duramax has been pain free since day one.

To me, Ford is the only American car company actually trying to get better and making some really good vehicles. I am thoroughly impressed with the fusion and new taurus which are a far cry from ford of the nineties and much better than what GM and Chrysler is putting out. The fit and finish of the new F-150's is fantastic as well. I do think the diesels need work but I do not blame that entirely on Ford as the EPA/Government has had a lot of effect on the reliability of Diesels due to restrictions.

I love my toyota's but if the pace keeps up I could end up in a ford next go round.

Of course I highly doubt I will give up the 4runner for an explorer but the camry could give it up for a Taurus SHO and I love my camry btw.

I will have to cast my vote for Ford as well. I have a Mazda (Ford made - some of the parts even have the Ford logo embossed on them) and have had very few problems. Of course, I only have 70k miles. I'd like my next car to be a Toyota though (Camry v6 specifically). Although, the Suby WRX STi does look pretty sweet now.

The new Taurus does look good and I wouldn't mind swapping out my camry for one either. I'm totally satisfied with my Expedition (Eddie Bauer). The finish is nearly 100% compared to the older models. If I wanted something better, I would need to hit up the Navigator line, which is way out of my price range.

My Mazda is what changed my mind about the Fords and actually try one. My P5 has been outstanding. Very fun car to drive and very reliable. 160K now and all I've done is brakes, belts and tires. Only real repair was replacing the EGR valve, but these actually had a design flaw and a replacement part was offered. Unfortunately I missed that, but I bought (the better canadian version) part myself online and installed it in less than an hr. One $120 repair in 7+yrs isn't bad.

I bought a 08 Ford xover (TaurusX, replaced by the Flex in 09) last Dec for an absolute steal. (thanks global economic meltdown!) I have two kids now and needed a bigger car for trips and weekends, plus I wanted to get another car sooner so we can finish the payments before we have to get new commuter cars (P5 won't last forever.) I've been highly impressed. My brother got a Highlander for his wife, and the Ford was nicer, roomier and less expensive. Great bang for the buck. Hopefully its as reliable as the Mazda was. Resell won't be as good, but I drive them into the ground, so IDK.

I have a 2007 V6 with the 6 speed auto/manual and have gone up side by side with s stock WRX and i could take it. The STI would give me a little problem but I was seriously impressed when I first drove this car how quick it actually is. What's really fun is embarassing little riced out civics with my "family car". I drove the speed6 before this and liked it but really didn't want to have to fool with a manual all the time in Houston traffic.

I am tempted to go test drive a new SHO but really don't need to put that temptation to buy in my life right now.

+1 on the Fusion, and they can be had in AWD trim too. I have actually owned Ford's since '98, currently I have an Escape which is perfect for hauling my dog and rc stuff around.

Im not a chevy/gm fan.... Ive always liked dodge for there cummins line of deisels. Theyre the best in the biz for power. But yea I totally agree with you guys on ford. They are the only american company that are trying hard to make a reiable/solid car that will be built to last. There are sites to prove that ford overall as a company of mass production of automobiles is the highest quality for the price in the world.

I agree, Ford is actually a decent quality car maker now, especially their trucks. Better than Dodge or Gm for sure.

Another agree on the Subaru WRX, although the WRX 265 (265hp) is one STELLAR deal... a buddy of mine went and bought one, afterwards found out that the engine is not 265hp, but really the same ~300hp as the STi version, just a different turbo and differentials. In fact it is a split second faster than the STi for a 0-60 time. Sure does smash you into your seat in 1st gear!

I am definatly not a ford fan. Henry Ford said he could give a car to everyone for free and still make money on the parts he sold them. I believe it! I had a 1997 mercury sable(basically a taurus) fully loaded and that was the biggest pos I have ever owned . Contantly broke down. If I were not a mechanic we'd be in the poorhouse because of that car. I pesonally think that and the escort were made to break and suck the owner dry.
Chevy make the best fullsized deisel truck better engine, better tranny, better stronger frame = better truck IMHO
Look at the ford 6.0 liter diesel motors if you had one in your truck chances are ford replaced it before 100,000 miles they were so plagued with problems they changed to a different 6.4l engine after only being out for ~4 years. My buddy owns a few 6.0l and a couple of trucks with his business and said he will never buy another ford deisel again. Hes has replaced 2 6.0l deisels allready in his personal and one of his work trucks. The new 6.4l deisel is allready having problems and gets horrible fuel milage. The japanese based Isuzu base duramax is a proven design and has been out for along time even before they came to the USA in the HD chevy trucks. Even today it is the same basic design engine with some small changes since 1999 when it came out in the duramaxx hd line of trucks. Yes they have had problems also like injectors but I havent seen or heard of any complete engine failures because of faulty or poorly made components like a ford. As far as power is concerned a duramaxx is capable of turning out > 600+ hp and 1000ft # of torque if it is turned up. But if you want it to last obviously its not recommended. I alway look on the side of the road when driving and I have seriously noticed a majority of the cars are fords I wonder why?
