Mamba Max Pro Cogging? - 10.18.2009, 06:16 PM

I can't say I have ever experienced "cogging" before, but I understand it is a roughness at part throttle, correct? Please check out this video and tell me if that is what is happening here. This is my brand new MMPro, so I'm pretty bummed about it. I've tried two different radio systems and two different motors. FWIW, I'm just trying to get my terms straight and see if there is anything I could be doing wrong. Or is this simply my bad luck and a defective ESC? This happens at very light throttle to mid throttle. If I get hard on the trottle, I can get past it. I tried running it in the street a bit and it's nearly impossible.

Good news!! I had been running the V1.23 firmware when this "cogging" was happening. It's just a habit of mine to always run the latest firmware. Anyway, I loaded up the V1.22 firmware (which is what the ESC is delivered with) and the problem is gone. I tried swapping back and forth between V1.22 and V1.23 multiple times. Each time I did, V1.23 was jerky and nasty and V1.22 was smooth as butter

So, the rest of you folks, don't try V1.23 on your MMPro

Now thats a helpful post for sure, nice detective work.

Funny though, I havent updated my MMM for a long time, and dont intend to either; it aint broke, so no fixing required!

Yup, I noticed that rough startup on 1.23 as well. Like you, I went back and forth multiple times from 1.22 and 1.23. Weird, but it didn't draw a lot of current like "real" cogging would. I actually called Castle friday (spoke to Bernie) to let him know about it.

Nope. MMPro notables are 6s operation at ~80A, adjustable BEC, and sensored capability.

Excuse my ignorance and off topic-ness, but does the MMM have data logging? I'm a nerd so I would deffinetly like to try it out. Thanks,

It does not... Only the Ice air controllers that "may" get car software have logging
