MBX5T Conversion, Radio Box pretty useless? - 10.19.2009, 05:30 AM

Hey all,

I have a Tekno MBX5T conversion kit and I'm finding the receiver box pretty much pointless in terms of size, it's just not tall enough.

The receiver I have is pretty small, SR3100 from the DX3R the dimensions are 21.6 x 33.1 x 12.35mm but it would appear this is to large for the radio tray in terms of height. It fits without the servos plugged in but as soon as you connect them it adds a few mm to the overall height of the receiver therefore making it to too tall.

I really don't think any other receiver would fit, the radio box is just too small in my opinion. I could raise the box using washers but I'd lose any dirt/dust protection it had.

It's such a shame as the rest of the kit is perfect, beautiful work on the chassis machining and the components fit like factory.

Hi,
It's not really a radio box, more of a radio tray. The space underneath is mostly for wire routing and transponder mounting. Most of us place the rx next to the ESC on top of the tray. Since there's no nitro to foul up the rx it was decided that a covered box wasn't a necessity. I cut mine down a lot (more than halfway) to lower the ESC and rx closer to the chassis. There's only room for wires underneath and my transponder is velcro'd to the mudguard (I swap my transponder between vehicles). As long as your not running in really wet conditions your rx should be fine.
