Why? It's not up to them to tell someone they're stupid for paying that price. If someone is dumb enough to pay that price, shame on them for not being more educated.

Yes, but it is dishonest business practices. I would expect more from a reputable dealer.

Dishonest? Hardly. It's up to them to sell at whatever price they choose to set on the product. Besides, show me another online retailer that stocks that exact same system (Traxxas P/N 3395). My searches turned up Tower and Ominmodels as the only retailers selling it.
