The best BEC on the market? - 10.19.2009, 03:43 AM

I just dont know what to buy anymore.... I race nitro truggys and use BEC's to regulate my voltage, BTW no I dont want to buy new servo's :)

I have tried novaks one and SMOKED it, im on my third CC BEC and absolutely hate them!! I have come to the conclusion that CC BEC is the absolute hugest POS out there on the market, from just turning the truck on or off ive smoked them... that is absolutely one product that I will never buy from CC again.

So in your guys exert opinion whats the best BEC out there?

lipo is cool and all, but wouldn't a nimh 6v pack be much simpler than a lipo and bec? You make sure your rx pack is charged and ready anyway, right?

Any BEC currently on the market that I know of has the same basic circuit design. If the BEC fails, full battery voltage can be passed through it to the load. This is usually caused by an excessive voltage spike and/or high current loads. Since spikes are probably out of the question in this case, I would look at the servo being driven. I've had servos that appear normal on the bench have issues when running. In my case, one of the "axles" in the servo gear set had elongated an axle hole in the case. Under light load, it worked fine; under heavier running load, the added stress binded the gears. When that happens, it can pull a substantial amount of current.

There was a bad batch where one cap was installed in reversed, but that has been taken care off.

thanks for the advice guys, we run 45 minute mains out here and if you do bump up then you would need to keep driving for the hour half.. Only the lipo packs can actually handle this kind of abuse with out needing a charge.. Oh and just to clarify I have now burnt my fourth CC bec..... ALL on different vehicles.. For me im done with CC becs..

Why not use a Hyperion rx life instead of a BEC?
