RC Timer 50A brushless/brushed ESC - RC-Monster Forums

hey guys, i found these on ebay, and the one thing that makes them stand out to me is that they run brushed and brushless. they are also cheap which could make them appealing as a nice esc for 1/10 bashing. 4 cell lipo is also a very cool thing to have.
here are some specs direct from ebay.

i would love to get some thoughts about this thing from some of the more educated guys on ESC's from here. i swear, most of you have masters degrees in electrical engineering to do what some of you do.

Note1:
For brushless motor, the ESC supports up to 12 cell NiMh/NiCd (or 4 cell Lipo) input; While for brushed motor, the ESC only supports up to 6 cell NiMh/NiCd (or 2 cell Lipo) input.
For 4-6 Cell Ni-xx: You needn't change the fan coming with the ESC;
For 7-9 Cell Ni-xx: You must change the fan because it cannot work with such a high voltage, so please choose a high voltage fan or supply the fan from the receiver (+6V);

Specs look ok, if a bit low. If specs aren't inflated, it might be ok running 4s on a low kv motor in a light 2WD 1/10 scale (max) vehicle; anything larger, or lower voltage, will probably exceed the low 40A spec. And it looks like it doesn't have a switching BEC, so if running anything over 2s, you'll need an external one or a receiver pack.

It's really hard to say though. There is more to an ESC other than specs: customer service/warrant, upgradability, smoothness, etc

i was thinking it would be used for nothing more than 1/0th touring car, maybe a 1/0th 4wd buggy, but leave it at that. it no MM by any means, and probably equivalent to the 35A hobbywing esc

1/0 scale? Isn't that infinite?

Anyway, as long as you understand the limits, it should work ok if it can live up to the specs.

its either infinite or not a real number!

i think i will stick with my MM, and get some ezrun esc's for bashing.

Nope, anything divided by 0 is gonna be infinite. A non-real number would be a vector, like when you try to take the square root of a negative number - basically anything other than the X axis.

lol, I guess I read "not a real number" as "imaginary". And infinity IS a number; it's a tired 8.

The specs are very similar to the EZRUN 60A Esc (especially when they talk about the fan). I think that this is just an EZRUN.

not to throw this in another direction, anyone seen the viverrine 100A esc on ebay as well? rebadged ezrun? or not?
