Correction, Palin-Jindal.

How can you not like Palin?

She was so smart she went to 5 universities.
She was so talented she only needed 1.5yrs to do 4yrs worth of work as Gov.
She's so cool she's got her own facebook. Her farm F'ing rocks and has tons of turkeys to shoot or stuff into chutes.
She's so freaking hot you can get famous just by banging her daughter
Yum!

y2k was a computer programming issue, not the end of the world.... A ton of planets align and the sun shoots right through the milkyway on this day in 2012, from what scientists have gathered every other time this event has happened, the planet went near extinct.. pole reversals etc. Has to make you think just a little...

Try telling the computer geeks that. They were freaking out lol.

Like I said, if it's nature that will cause it, I'm cool with it. Nature is very powerful and if this does happen, there will be nothign we can do.

If you think about it in a certain way, 2012 also mark date relelates to a "programming" quirk with the Mayan calendar. Basically they use a base 20 counting system where we use a base 10. Nobody thinks everytime we finish a century or milennia (ie X999 -> X000) that the world is going to end just because we flipped over some 0's. Hell, the world is not recreated everynight when the time goes from 23:59 to 00:00.

IDK what else you are referring too tho. Our solar system is embedded as a part of the Milky way galaxy and moves with it. The magnetic poles flip quite often (in geological time.) Its even occured during the lifetime of the Homo genus and we survived (not that Palin believes in either biological interpretation of Homo...lol.) The sun flips its poles more than once a decade.

Should make for a fun FX movie tho. There are a few others coming out that looks cool. Wonder about that Avatar movie... Reminds me of Halo for some reason.

OMG, I just did a little googling around for 2012 and was amazed at all the utter crap out there! There was this one forum I hit (http://2012forum.com/) that has some posts from people that are "way out there". Fun to read I guess.

Can't help but feel that there are some people with a LOT of time on their hands on that forum.

Someone posted up with some rational explanations of 'strange phenomena', only to be shot down because apparantly he was 'illogical'. Genius, pure genius!

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

I wasn't so much in reference to any calendar, good point though.. but instead on how the planets all align and the sun will blast through the Milky Way to us... this is the event that has some thinking.. Idk about any of the other doomsday speculation. I mean if the Mayan calendar was deliberately made to end on this day that would be something :) I'm of the mind that humans had some assistance w/ the great pyramids and other grand builds that we pretty much couldn't build even today with all our technology and glory, so who knows maybe someone helped w/ such a detailed calendar.

Can you explain what you mean by this? I can't picture what you are saying.

If humans did have some tech help, it would be nice if they came back and helped out again. Maybe they can hook us up with some nice batt tech too. I'm sure aliens would find nitros as loud and obnoxious as many humans do.

Fat lot of good they did showing us how to make big piles of rock....

"We are the Tarnicians, we've traveled 100M LY to visit your planet"
-"Oh wow, nice space ships! Can you teach us to build one of your magical flying machines?
"No. But we will show you how to stack big rocks. Really big rocks."
-"Oh... uh...mmm. Ok. But, we pretty much got rock piling down..."
"Did we mention the rocks would be big? And heavy too. Look at the pretty patterns.."
-"Ohhhh....." [drooooollll]

I'm not claiming to know the details but come on.. LOL it would have taken century’s to build those pyramids even with massive army's working on them 24/7 and to what end? and for what purpose? All those hypothesis on how they cut and moved the rocks are a joke, even with the most advance cutting tools and heavy equipment we couldn’t build them even today as I noted.. So to not think there is something we don’t know is pretty ignorant.

But the process of building pyramids, while complicated, was not as colossal an undertaking as many of us believe, Redford says. Estimates suggest that between 20,000 and 30,000 laborers were needed to build the Great Pyramid at Giza in less than 23 years. By comparison, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris took almost 200 years to complete.
And this next one is just funny:

Obviously written by someone with zero knowledge on the subject of construction, architecture, and surveying.

I am interested in the explanation of the sun blasting through the galaxy as finnster asked as well. If the planets align won't the sun actually be blocked by Mercury and Venus? Isn't this very similar to a solar eclipse?

They did and only the open minded can figure it out. A more spectacular place is in South America where you'll find precision work done to stones (Some very large) at very high sea level and very old. The precision of the work couldn't be done with simple tools. I would love to meet a higher intelligence form of a human. I would ask them to make me an absolute rock solid drive unit and power source for my R/C vehicles .

If anyone has the History channel, the program will air again on Nov. 10th.

I think most industrialized humans have gotten really spoiled and/or lazy recently. Not saying this is bad necessarily, perhaps we're just reaping the fruit of our previous generations' labor. But you'd be truly amazed by what we can accomplish when we put our minds to it, especially if motivated by the crack of a whip at our backs or threat of loss of limb or life (how about some pyramids).
Manpower still rule in places like Bangladesh. I saw on Discovery channel men stripping paint to bare metal using old hacksaw blades. Try that at home.
