Converted my XL now need some input

Weak spot I found on my savage was the reverse gear.
I had 6s with a 2250 10t on a 3 speed savage.
I only ripped he shaft to reverse into 2 pieces.

I agree on the way it works though.
Doesn't seem as smooth as could be.
