Brushless specs for 1:5 scale.

Now I have been thinking and planning about the Nutech Thunderbolt 2 brushless project and my decision about the specs are:

- Scorpion HK-4035 10-12S 4200W 560kv brushless outrunner with 6mm axle, the motor have weight alot ( almost 500 grams ) and it can take approx. 100a constant max.

I already bought it because the price was good and there is 2 years warranty.



Because the motor is huge and the power and torque is more amazing I need to make some extra hard parts from aluminum T6-7056 with cnc-machine to mount the motor safely to the chassis. The motor will be mounted with 2 tick metal plates which has 3 bolts and one pitch chasm to set up right clearance and pinion to each gears when changing the gearings to other circumstances.

The pinion will be modified to fit the motor with this style collet but only bigger one: http://www.megamotorusa.com/Images/G...f?id=644&bc=no . I will protect the motor from dirt with metal cage or filter material wich is protected with metal meshwork, then I assemble a 12V flex to the backside of the cage with another meshwork to reduce the possibility to damage the outrunner motor. The motor have 2 year warranty in my country so I don't modify it.





- Turnigy K-Force 120A-HV OPTO 5-12S Brushless ESC.

The price and quality of the controller seems to be quite good, the parameters are good enough and the overall size is very small so I will use it. I will also buy a programming box to modify the parameters easier. I will get a water proof metal box from my friend where I will put the controller and maybe the hv-ubec with top quality silicone liquid, the controller will be water proof and the heat problems are solved because silicone is good heat conduit. There is also a possibility to install an external heatsink inside the metal box.Because the controller doesn't have bec and its opto controller I need to use hv-ubec.

- Flightmax 5S 5000mah 30c lipo batteries x 2 to 10s batteries. The batteries are heavy weight stuff but its not problem at all because the motor weight is lower than the original one.


I already have futaba 2,4pm 2,4ghz radios with good futaba servo's, futaba s-9351 to brake and large scale s-3306 to steering. The receiver will be added to traxxas summit waterproof receiver box.

Well I am also maybe the first person in the world who does have Thunderbolt 2 done in brushless conversation

The price of the project is quite low when you think about what finedesingrc's or other brands conversations will cost and I hope that this project will work out some day, now I need to wait to get the 1:5 thunderbolt 2 from my friend with middle differential and mechanical brakes and other parts and stuff. The project is more challenging and funnier than 1:8 conversations because there is no available conversations on the market and there is things to do yourself. I like to build and make new cars, its fantastic when you get something to done yourself.
