Score big at Tower! -
12.18.2009, 03:37 PM
As a tower member (I'm sure most of us are) you know that you get the usual coupons around this time of the year. But I just scored BIG. I placed a $125 order and used a $20 off coupon, AND got free shipping! Because of this, I was able to order $30 in extra stuff. What's not to like about that?!
I will spank a nitro any day...guaranteed. :)

I think Tower is way over rated. I ordered from them once, took almost 2 weeks to receive items. Never again.
I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

I use them only to get parts for Duratrax vendetta and buy car kits as even with their bit higher prices the 20+% discount is nice :)

They are good for certain things, but Amain usually has all that, if not more. Prices are about the same, but no BS hunting for coupons. Other than that ebay chopshops are good for replacement parts.
My LHS has actually come way down in price (finally saw the handwriting) and has things comparable to tower. You pay tax, but its right there and no shipping $/times and easy to return if needed.

I shop at Amain hobbies. I get free USPS Priority shipping for orders at least $100. Since I'm stationed at a Navy base overseas, USPS Priority shipping (6 days) is way better than the two weeks it takes to reach me if I order from Tower.
Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)
Predator with OS .21TM
Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ
Kyosho ST-RR Conversion
Ofna CR with Tekin ESC/Motor (2)

I try to spread it out a bit. I even check stomer hobbies out and order from them. They are pretty close to me. It never seem to fail though, that amain will have all the parts but one I need, Stormer has all but two and Tower has the one the others don't but not everything. If any of that made sense.

Makes sense to me! I finally get enough $ together to place and order and end up ordering from 3 different places and still don't get everything I need
Perfect example...I needed diff parts for my mbx-5T and no one had all the parts I needed..so I had to order from A-main& Nitro house.

Same here, I need a couple parts, and have to order from different places.
Then one part gets here first, and then a week later I get the other parts.
Gets annoying just that part staring you down...

I usually place my larger orders with Tower because of the free shipping and the coupons. Free shipping usually gets to my door in 3 days and the coupons are a ton better than Amain's discount system (which blows). I use Amain for whatever I can't find on Tower, and usually Horizon for whatever I can't get from Amain (typically parts for my planes).
All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

in my eyes, tower has a good search engine and a HUGE parts avaliability for just about anything (exept losi ) but have slow shipping.
amain on the other hand on the cheap shipping will get here in a week!! that's international
bot their coupons arnt as good but average price is lower IMO
E-revo 3.3 conversion, 249kv outrunner, 6s, MMM
the porthole from the noob world an here has been opened!! that's how i got in.
