Winter weather road salt...Avoid like the plague?

Did a little weather proof snow bashing with my new FLM extended Savage Flux...
I was very leary of going on the nearby road for fear of road salt screwing stuff up.
Should I be as concerned as one would with Saltwater? My Electronics are sealed

I guess I'm asking how harsh is road salt on platic and metal parts, etc?
Especially if you can't clean her down for several hours after bashing (work parking lot with piles of snow to attack!)

I would say it depends. Do you mind if your rear CVD's and some of the screws end up with rust on them? If not, then pay no mind to it.

Road salt is probably not as hard on them as sea salt from the sand. I run mine in the sand, and end up having to pull things apart to sand off the rust as best as I can.

Thanks, maybe I'll look into CVD boots, I'm sure there are ones that'll fit these cup and bones.
Rusty screw I don't mind...plenty of replacements.

What kind of paddle tires do you run in the sand? I'm thinking of getting a pair for snow and sand.

I'm fortunate we don't use salt up here, just dirt. Of course, its murder on our paint jobs though.....

I've never had an issue running mine in the parking lots during the winter. It's a good idea to keep some WD-40 on hand and when your done knock off the snow you can and then give it a light mist of WD-40

I dont use paddles. Tried them once, and spent most of the time on my lid - couldn't keep the front end down.

That "dirt" they put on the roads is actually a mixture of sand and salt. They'd use the liquid deicer out there, but it gets too cold - it looses its ability to deice at about 15 degrees or so. I think they are starting to put down Magnesium Chloride prior to storms hitting though - I read about it last year in the Gazette. Its just a liquid form of salt that keeps ice/snow from sticking to the road.

You know your in MT in the winter when the back of your vehicle is dark brown, and the front is white from the paint being chipped away by the sand!
One year my step daughter asked me why all the trucks in Montana were the same color!!!
