the red rings on xboxes are related to components overheating.. do a quick search on youtube and theres step by step walkthroughs on how to fix it... the chances of your harddrive going bad are slim.

better to send it in and have it replaced for free. I believe microsoft is honoring all red ring failures a slong as the unit is not tampered with (AKA....the towel wrap trick)

the components really arent overheating its more that the system is acting as if the cpu and gpu are overheated.

the 3 rings almost always mean you just have some type of cold solder joint in either the cpu or gpu chips.

now there are cases where things are actually overheated and burnt out but thats rare on a typical 360.

but like you said go on youtube and do one of the xclamp mods on it and it almost always works as long as the 360 isnt totally effed.

will cost 20 bucks at max for screws, washers, and the thermal paste

ive fixed a grip of 360s and havent failed yet with this fix.

if you havent gotten ahold of the other guy i can fix them also.

good luck!

good deal man!

i try and only fix xbox's that have already been tampered with.. no reason to risk me trying to fix it if microsoft can do it!

what do you think the xclamp is? its a better solution to cooling as it adds more pressure to the components thus increasing the thermal conductivity...
i dont see how thats related to a cold joint.
