Sweet! - 01.08.2006, 02:40 AM

Well this may be a different type of post than your all used to....no problems, no questions, no review, just happy.
I picked up an MGM80 and a Basic 4200 to throw into rusty and I couldn't be happier. I'm running on 8 cells right now and it's perfect (who's run 9? is it worth it?).
I've worked with so many trucks/cars and with brushed/brushless and every battery pack you can think of and this hands down is one of the funnest setups I've had in a while. Anyways just thought that I'd share. I'll post some pics. later but for now I just thought that you all would like to know that one more guy is happy with the non-novak systems!

I have yet to top 7 cells on my Lehner 5300/Warrior 7018 system, it was stupid enough on that many in my Pede and even my T2. Still, the temptation to build up a 9 cell makes me really want to.

Hope you're enjoying the setup. Glad to know it fell into good hands.

If you haven't figured it out yet, I sold my system to avery4jc ;)

I'll get a video for you guys soon. I ran it through two more packs (8 cell) yesterday and today and I'm in love with it. I may solder up a 9 cell pack for fast blasts but I like the fact that I can go balls out on the 8 cell packs for the entire run time and the spedo and motor are just warm.
I'll keep you all posted.

My god this thing rocks! I have to get a video for you guys. The gearing is almost spot on and the top speed is incredible. It's perfect on 8 cells a perfect combo. of power and weight.
One thing that I was thinking about and I tried to do long ago was to run some 1/8 buggy wheels and tires on it so keep your eyes open for a thread.

I think the most I had was 12 cells in my Pede with a MGM120/8s setup. It was very fast. Too fast really. Hard to control at those speeds, but it sure was fun!:)

Well I have the first real test for brushless rusty tomorrow, after school tomorrow at work a fellow employee wants to race rusty with his Jato. I couldn't let everyone down (I'm the local "hero" with rusty, long story) and since everyone wants me to wipe the floor with his stock jato I soldered up some 9 cell packs for some short runs. Man is this thing fast, I don't know if it'll hang w/ a Jato but it'll be close enough where my driving skills will prevail over his. One thing that I did notice though was that going from 8 cells to 9 cells I have lost run time by about 40-50%.
I'm using the same cells but now in a 9 cell configuration, any ideas?
I was thinking that it might be that I need to run a reciever pack now but I'm not sure, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you drop a tooth or two on the pinion you may pick up a little more efficiency. Have you changed pinions yet after going to 9 cells?

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Well I kept the same gearing because it felt spot on even after I added another cell, I'll have to find some way of figuring out what final ratio I should end up at on a Rusty running an mgm80, Lehner 4200 and 9 cells.
Currently I'm at 20 teeth but I threw on a 21 tooth tonight because it felt really torquey still.
It keeps the front end on the ground so it's not rediculously low but at the same time it'll just spin the tires for as long as you hold the throttle if you punch it (with the correct tires for different applications).
I'll look into it.

double post! ;)

hey I forgot to mention that I'm picking up a LiPo soon for it, I run LiPo's in some other vehicles (bl ft18-t) and I was looking into getting this....
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByC...=THP42003S2PPL
It'll handle 63A continuous which is what I've seen some guys run, the only concern I have is that I'm running the 80 amp speedo so do you think that geared where I'm at the 4200 would pull more than 60A?
Thanks again.

probably not, I'll do some measuring but that's not a problem. I'll make it fit, that's what they make dremels for, my chassis doesn't stand a chance :)
