The mount was actually made by a forum member on the UE site.. Ever seen them referred to as DD wing mounts? Thats short for Diemaker Dave... People have been makin their own to fit though... Some careful measuring and the actual tower and mount u wanna use in hand and u should be ok... His mount mainly worked with the MBX5 and 5T wing mounts but some others might fit the pattern...

So that's what all the fuss was about...

Oh... I think I'll stick with the pro-line stuff then... I'll tape the tyres before mounting them when I get replacements.

Yeah vader is right. I had forgotten they weren't off-the-shelf items... duh disregard

But do tape! That will also prevent them coming off the rims.

I was looking at getting some foam tires too. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23752 ATS makes some for ~$50. I spoke with Kershaw Designs and ATS had some sort of a problem with shipping. I havent contacted ATS yet but info@atsmodel.com is their email if you are interested.

As far as I know he hasnt produced any in years... Your best bet is eBay...
Contact a seller by the name of Billytrucks123... He has a LOT of parts and some he doesnt list to kinda hold on to them... Just do a search for Supermaxx parts and he sells the ones with a green background... Good luck in your search but if you have the fab skills I would just make one out of either 6061 or 7075 aluminum... Then you can make it exactly like you want...

I see... Well, Billy is my go too guy for 'supermaxx' related parts... Zack... now you know where to look... send him mail... as Vader said he might have them even though
they're not listed... billytrucks@msn.com (Scott)... regarding building your own... I think there's a thread on the traxxas forum that has the template for the knucklehead
mounts in circulation... just another option.

Where did you get the carbon-fiber that you used for this project, because the quality of it is very poor. I mean absolutely no disrespect, but it was the extremely poor quality of the carbon-fiber that caused it to shred and bur like that when cut by the CNC machine...if it had been higher-quality carbon-fiber, the cuts, holes, and counter-sinks would have been perfectly smooth, and both sides of the carbon-fiber would have been perfectly flat and shiny, not dull and rough/bumpy like what you used.

My personal opinion is, sell the current CF pieces to someone else to build a project out of, and cut new pieces out of high-quality carbon-fiber. What you need is 3k weave, bi-directional, glossy on both sides carbon-fiber. GraphiteGirl on eBay is the best place to buy CF...they lay-up their own sheets and do it the correct way, as well as have the best prices!

I got it from ebay... yeah... the quality is low... but it's what I could afford at the time (advertised single sided scraps)... I only recently found a CNC operator here,
so maybe when I do decide to change it, I'll look for a higher quality. Thanks for the advise..

No problem...I work with carbon-fiber A LOT, so if you ever need any help or have any questions, feel free to ask.

I will say, though, now is the time to invest in some carbide cutting tools...carbide is the only thing that will cut carbon-fiber without wearing out. Sure, carbide tools will eventually wear out, but they last for a VERY LONG time!

I would grab a carbide M3 tap, carbide M4 tap, carbide ¼" 90° countersink bit, carbide ¼" 82° countersink bit, a couple different carbide jig-saw blades, a decent set of carbide drill bits, and maybe a carbide 1/8" end-mill bit. Carbide tools are a little expensive at first, but you will save a ton of money in the long run because you will never have to replace them, where-as you would have to replace standard tools pretty much after every couple hours or so of use.

And don't waste your money on titanium-nitride coated tools, they are decent for wood and soft metals like cheap aluminum, but they wear out fast on 6061 & 7075 aluminum, and they barely even work once on carbon-fiber before they are completely dull.
