Can the fan from the regular MMP be added on to the 1S version, or is it a different case? I haven't been able to find the fan on the CC website, but I'd like to get one. I have small 25mm fans, but I would much rather have the clean look of the Castle fan with the plastic shroud.

It's a 1s esc . There should be no reason you need a fan . Thats why castle did away with the fan .
I doubt they made a different case for the 1s version since it just takes a bit of circuitry modifications. You might need to put a servo plug on the fan leads and power it from the receiver power though so it gets a full 5v.

It is not only a 1S ESC. It is a 1S->6S ESC that has no built-in BEC and really neat solder posts so you can replace the motor wires whenever you want.
Right, I'm not running it on 1S. I got the 1S version because I am going to use it with 2S LiFe so I don't need a BEC, and if I ever do I will get an external one. They left the fan off because many of the racers wanted a smaller controller, but for me that doesn't matter. I'd rather have the fan.
There is a fan plug on the side of the controller next to the motor sensor plug. Looks like the tiny little fan plug Castle uses on the MMM internally.
Can anyone with the regular MMP look and see how the fan and plastic shrouding is attached? Does it just clip on?
I guess I'll call Castle on Monday and see if I can buy one separately. I'm waiting on the Field Link to ship so hopefully they can toss the fan in with that order.
I got a reply from Christy at Castle. They said they would include the fan module for me, but didn't mention if it was going to be available on the website for ordering anytime soon. So I guess if you need one just give them a call or email. Also, they are still waiting to fill Field Link orders for their direct customers (filling distributor orders first I would guess.)
I believe we didn't include the fan on the 1s version because it's designed with the 1/12th oval racer in mind. The Mamba Max Pro doesn't even work up a sweat in something like that; so a fan would just be extra weight and cause body clearance issues.
I will see what we can do about getting the fans available for sales on the site. We were discussing putting Monster fans up for sale as well, two or three to a pack maybe. We're just not sure if there would be a demand, fan issues are rare these days and aren't even necessary in most applications.
+1 to Thomas, it's built for people that aren't pushing it hard enough to require a fan so the fan is just dead weight and an additional draw on power. You are going to need a BEC to power your radio, just use that power to run a small 5v or 7v fan if you really need it.
It would be nice to be able to purchase the fans separately. I have had 3 MMMs so far and never had a single fan issue. Pretty reliable considering I pull enough current through mine to require the fan on a frequent basis and I run in any weather on any terrain.
All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.
The reason I'm choosing the Castle fan/shroud over the other fans I have laying around is mostly aesthetic. I want the look of a standard MMP, not a fan zip-tied or screwed into the heatsink. My reason for using the 1S version is different than a 1/12th racer, and the body clearance issues aren't a concern for me. If I eventually want to use the controller on 4-6S it will be nice to know I can without worries of overheating.
