Center Diff Spur Gear??

Hey, hope this is the right forum.. I did a search but didnt find the info I was after.. Im wondering if the center diff spur gear on an 1/8 truggy is a standard spur gear, or if they are maufacturer specific? I have a Redcat Monsoon XTR and it's got a 60t spur.. I've read where it's a basic copy of Kyosho's ST-R, so I wonder if a spur for an ST-R would fit? Or basically, what my options for spur gears are, running this redcat center diff? Thanks for any info!

Note: Ive not yet had the diffs out of the chassis.. Just curious about options at this point. Thanks

Besides Mod1.0 vs Mod0.8 ( 32pitch ), I think the only major differences you will find are thickness of the gear in the middle vs outer edge with the teeth, and the mounting pattern. They either tend to be 'square' hole location patterns, or more oblong- imagine a square box in the middle of the spur with a hole in each corner, then an oblong box with holes in each corner. Thats a fairly easy thing to spot though so I dont think you'll have too many issues finding suitable spurs (famous last words).

hehe.. Got ya! Thanks for the info! Any idea what 1:13 gear ratio would be suited for? Bashing, Racing, etc.?? It came with a 14t pinion 60t spur.. Seems pretty quick, but not very "fast".. Im totally green when it comes to offroad and also 1/8 scale.. I used to race 1/10 electric touring cars 10 or 11 years ago, so Im just starting to get back in the swing.. (Also these are my first nitros, so I've jumped in with both feet) :D

Nitro gearing is beyond me- seems like if you want 'fast' you just keep gearing up and tuning the engine until it wont go any faster & isnt overheating either = maximum possible speed. Very different to the electric & BL setups that we use around here- you choose a certain voltage and kv motor, then gear for a certain speed range ( ~40mph for bashing or racing as a rule ).

OK, thanks Neil!! Im actually considering converting it to brushless as its so loud now.. Ya think the 60t spur would suffice if I went the brushless route, or do most brushless/lipo trugggies use a smaller spur? (im not sure what range of pinions are available, or if there's enough selection to not even worry about the spur?) I dont think I'd go TOO radical.. Probably 5s would be the max, and that would only be if I raced it once in a while.. I'll probably bash 75% and race maybe 25%.. Thanks again for your time and info!

With BL, spurs in the 44-60-ish tooth range is fairly typical, and pinions with 9teeth or more; cant be specific on gearing really as it depends on alot of other factors like motor kv, and specific diff gear ratios.
