can i dye a mounted rim?

can i dye a mounted rim? - 03.30.2010, 08:12 PM

i got a set of white aka mounted rims with tyres can i dye them? i hate white rims, but my LHS has only those. thx guys!

Dying wheels requires boiling in water, which is also a method used to unmount glued tires, so you might run into some issues there with the tires coming undone.

You could unmount the tires (boiling or oven method), then dye rims, then re-glue tires. If you really wanted you could paint them, but that never lasts and they will look bad very quickly.
