My RC8T Conversion

Finally finished my RC-Monster RC8T conversion and had it out over the last couple of weekends. My gallery with shots of my build is here:http://picasaweb.google.com/thzerodo...sterConversion

Ran fantastic! First bash session didn't last that long as I ran the truck into a electrical pole and that caused some minor repairs to be neeeded. Second bash session lasted through three batteries.

During bashing runs l had warm battery, motor and ESC; was not doing alot of full power high speed passes. I was running probably about 3/4 throttle most of the time as I was running with some 10th scale trucks. With the thicker diff it would still pull wheelies which with bashing was nice.

My buddy driving one of the 10th scale (HPI Firestorm, decent truck and of course the donor for the Blitz) and was commenting I wasn't going that much faster than his. This was while I was chasing his truck with mine. The look on his face when I pulled the trigger tight and kicked in the 'afterburner', so to speak, was priceless as the truggy just exploded with speed!

The basica of my conversion are as follows:

• Castle Creations Mamba Monster with 2200kV motor with motor fan (check out my review HERE).
• Traxxas E-Revo Brushless ESC hold down.
• 5S 5800MaH Zippy Flightmax batteries.
• KingHeadz find thread wheel nuts.
• Pro-Line Badlands on Maximizer wheels black - I like the look, but not the hassle. Probably will switch to some JConcepts Rulux wheels dyed black.
• Pro-Line Calibers on Velocity Rims.
• DE Racing skid plates (front/rear).
• Spektrum DX3R transmitter and 3100 (DSM2) receiver.

Setup (from standard Associated RC8T setup):

• Gearing is 50/15.
• Diffs are 7/40/3.
• Reduced front droop to help keep front wheels on ground.
• Bronze (4lb) springs in rear.
• 2 degrees
• Taped the wheels using Gorilla Tape. This is a bit heavier and stickier than regular duct tape and works great. Had no serious ballooning on the tires.

Looks Sweet! I like your paint job. Where did you get those skids?

I got them from either Amain or Tower. Stocked up a couple of pair. Much better than the stock AE front skids as it helps not scrape the heck out of the chassis.

Love the Rulux wheels dyed black w/badlands...sweet setup. Same as on my truggy!
