I can attest to the durability of the spur. My top screw loosened and I heard that horrible, unmistakable sound of skipping gears. Fearing I had stripped at least the tops of the spur teeth, I was amazed to find almost no damage. Still running with that same spur. Not saying everyone would be so lucky, but that's pretty tough for nylon or whatever material Mike used.

Mike did include a knurled washer (can't remember the exact term), but it can still loosen if not torqued right, but that's nothing a little blue lock tite can't fix.
