Boats are nice and fun! But they drain batteries MUCH MUCH quicker than land r/c's. I would get a maximum of 7 minutes of runtime in a 2p 8000-10,000mah setup. That got old fast for me so I gave up on the boating world.
Yeah, that same boat of my Dad's has a 55Gal gas tank, you could easily burn all of that in an afternoon, ho far would that get you in a car? A typical day out in the boat which was about 75% just sitting, a little cruising just on plane and some kneeboarding and/or tubing was a minimum of 20 gallons. So with an Electric boat I can see runtimes would be poor. Good batteries would be a must, although I wouldn't expect that it would need much for burst C rating, I would think that the lack of a grip ( rubber on ashphalt vs prop in water) would dramatically lower amp bursts.
